Sky Hunter Posted June 19, 2005 Share Posted June 19, 2005 Seems i cant get past Circle Airstrip mission....the coronas are too close to each other and PC flying with keyboard is ugh especially with clamzy air physics, i cant get this circle airport thingy! I keep going down after max 2 circle. Im trying 3rd day now! Any advices? I read the walktrough like 20 times and still cant get it. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Sky Hunter Posted June 19, 2005 Author Share Posted June 19, 2005 I tryed both......i just found that plane delays response on my controls. Its just misses those coronas that are close to each other. Tryed both rudder flying and strafing. Both in 3rd and 1st person view. Its just either keeps missing the corona or just diving down too fast with all those hills and canyons. decadous Posted June 19, 2005 Share Posted June 19, 2005 well i dunno what the walkthru said.. but what i did was go clockwise.. and bank it.. it's a pain in the arse but after each corona i hit i pull up a lil bit and then slowly decend back down to the next one.. it took me a couple of tries.. but yeah i dunno if that'll help you or if you've already tried it but hope it helps Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

oli_86 Posted June 19, 2005 Share Posted June 19, 2005 yeah its freakin hard i did it for several hours, was really pissing me off. but eventually i noticed that the more u turn and bank the more unstable the plane gets, if u aim the plane's nose right onto next corona when banking then it gets much easier.. kind of hard to explain, if u stll having problems send me the save and ill try to do it for u Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

If your using the keyboard then it's really easy, not that I've tried a joystick, but it's easy anyway, you'll get the hang of it after trying a few times... yeah, the physics of the game really suck. Cojawfee Posted June 19, 2005 Share Posted June 19, 2005 What version are you playing? If PC and with keyboard, just tap things. Tap left and tap right for turning, hold down W the entire time. Sometimes you have to hold down left, right, up, or down but you usually don't. just turn until you are heading straight for a corona and then just adjust tiny bits. mikeswi Posted June 20, 2005 Share Posted June 20, 2005 Use the rudders. A lot. Makes turning much tighter. Try not to get crazy with the turns or you'll miss one. Tap S occasionally to slow down. Just keep at it and eventually you'll clear it by sheer chance. And your reward will be to do the same thing in the next challenge, only you have to land afterward. I hated flight school...... The analog stick is perfect for flying. I know it's possible to fly with just the keyboard since I beat the game with one, but I couldn't get gold on all of them. I beat the air training missions today after many retries, and found that the thing to do was to NOT hold down W. I let go after the 1st checkpoint, and after that, taps for left and right. Either my plane stall when i take sharper turn to hit corons, or i simply miss corona and having to do huge circles in order to get back to it. pixelrage Posted June 21, 2005 Share Posted June 21, 2005 I finally got to flight school yesterday....I finished all of the missions in about an hour, I really don't think it's as bad as many people make it out to be...maybe it's becuase I've been playing Vice City religiously for years. The only thing I really had a problem with was the helicopter mission, where you have to destroy the trucks and the two moving cars EDIT: I'm using a logitech gamepad, I can't imagine doing this without it. As for the "circle the runway" missions, the best point of advice is to keep it as level as you can, and don't oversteer, because just turning the plane slightly will result in it responding a few seconds later. And what you know? Passed on Silver(69sec) after 8 tries in a row. My trick was to release the acceseleration button and just use left-right and correcting height..... Can the game be modded to make it compatible? I'm finding the helicopter lessons quite tricky with the keyboard. I have one minor quibble; When flying a helicopter you can only tip it forward so far. No helicopter I know of tips very much further than 70 to 80 degrees. In SA however it is possible to flip your chopper (fnar fnar) forward so its flying upside down. seevip Posted June 22, 2005 Share Posted June 22, 2005 I use keyboard, helicopters are easy to fly for me, just practice with it i hold down forward and laucnh it forward, much easier than that dreaded plane. Only thing i hate about the game is the view, i cant bloody move my mouse to look around view like i do in my car, and cant figure out how, same thing with flying, when i fly my mouse automatically starts controlling the plane when i never set it to. this is very annoying when im trying to land the hydra or hellicopter without damaging it.
