Rannicus
OK, I bought the san andreas game a few days ago and like a lot of you, I've encountered a LOT of problems but was able to fix them with the help of this forum. My question is i have 2 friends who have pc's less powerfull than mine and their running san andreas better even if we have the same settings (800*600 16bit) AA off draw distances below half and yet my pc seems unable to perform as expected. I've updated all the drivers from my board to my realtek soundcard. (the other pc's have via chipsets) I think the soundcards here is at fault but i'm not sure because when I was playing gta3, you can change the type of i think codec or driver within the game (direct sound emulation, hardware emulation, creative labs) you know those settings which helped make my gta run faster but it was not included in the san andreas game. specs atlhon sempron+2400 512 ddr ram geforceFX 5200 128 mb, 128 bit 30 gig hd
tommygun1
I'm running an 1800+ with a 5600 vid and have pretty good graphics and all, check to see if you have your video car set for best quality or best performance (in display properties) also possibly updating from 512 to 1 gig of ram will make a difference, (just did myself about 2 months ago, big difference. Also, even if their processor is slower, games rely HEAVILY on the video card. If they have a slower computer and a better video card and more ram that might be how their topping you. Hope this helps
Rannicus
thanks for the advice but those pc's only have a geforce 2 32mb vid card and the other one has a geforce 64mb card, both are running with 256, and 512 sdrams. I've already set everything to "best performance" disabled any visual enhancement on my card. I really think it's the soundcard that's causing the slowdown but i'm not sure because i had the same issues with gta3 and vice city when i just change the sound settings of the game and everything runs smoothly
tommygun1
That makes sense, if it does make a difference with you, I might try it also, because all I have is an onboard soundcard. I'm surprised the game even runs on those computers, and better than yours, that REALLY surprises me. Also, see how many background programs you have running, those can sometimes make a difference. (sorry if this all sounds basic, but its the little things that make the differences sometimes.) sorry i couldn't be more help
dertyjerzian
OK, I bought the san andreas game a few days ago and like a lot of you, I've encountered a LOT of problems but was able to fix them with the help of this forum. Right here. Yes. I like that. Next, allow anything at all that says "wants to start up" if you have a start up gaurd enabled. Note* If you don't have a start up gaurd, I highly advise that you get one. If you're reading this still even after I gave you that fat bag of link, then you're in for a treat. here is a link directly to what you need, homie. Fatter bag of link I have the same card as you, once you've got your drivers installed, come back and see me. I'll tell you how to best configure it from there, and point you to the perfect settings file. EDIT: it is best to download the exe for your new omega gaming drivers and then unistall your drivers so you need only access it and install it after you restart instead of surf all slow on the net without display drivers. EDIT AGAIN: awww man, that fatter bag of link is BEAT!!! gonna have to just use the regular one, sorry. Rannicus
I've seen this omegadriver link a lot on this forum, will this really help? I'll try to download it later because my internet connection sucks (56kbps), thanks for the post The Omega driver is the last thing I haven't tried and yes I've disabled anything that is running in the background (anti-virus, startup programs, no-spyware, etc) I really hope rockstart would release a patch very Very soon because there is a problem with some of the missions (eg. the one where your have to rescue mike toreno from the van, after i've rescued him and got out of the airport and go to the red spot nothing happened and i'm just stuck there, left me no choice but to kill them hehehe) Anyway, is there anything we can do to tweak our built-in soundcards, (I've updated my drivers from realtek) anything we can disable in cmos to improve performance like memory tweaks. I'll dwnload the omega drivers later hope it can fix this problem tnx again eses
dertyjerzian
well the thing is: the configuration is key, not only does omega's driver sets speed your games up and make them look nicer, it also adds quick configurability. The installation you want is performance (u can choose that or quality) the performance settings you want are high quality images* (trust me on that, same card, remember?) And low everything else. anti aliasing and antistropic should be off, not app controlled.
