Tis now time to edit yon post 2 continue to be effective and organized:

 

 

This is now a popcyc.dat thread. Stream.ini is useless.

 

See below for Ashdexx's example of the uses of the popcyc.dat file.

 

If a mod peaks in here, can you re-title this thread accordingly, at which time I'll edit this line out. Nah, I'll be like thanks yo! like right here tho.

I am also using another settings file now too, which may allow th game to run better?

 

I saw someone had talked about it, but had mentioned editing more files in conjuntion with this one too. So I may be wrong, but that memory thing is definately more memory allocated to the game... I really can't say definately to that either to tell you the truth, unfortunately.

 

My aim is to provoke conversation about this obviously useful file, and to find the person who I had seen talking about it and hear what its all about.

 

EDIT: changing something in those floating point numbers changes it to supper bright, someone mentioned.

Can we increase the memory more?If we do will it mean even better performance?

pe_lightingbasecap 0.35 - setting it to 0.0, will make the game uber-bright

 

the popcycle.dat controls how many vehicles (and peds) are in each section at once, i set mine to around 50.

 

// Fore each type of zone (Business, Countryside etc) we have a that controls the ped densities.

// There is a set of values for each time of the day in 2 hour increments (midnight, 2am, 4 am etc)

// There are 2 sets of values: Weekday & Weekend.

// #Peds is the maximum number of peds you can ever have.

// #Cars is the maximum number of cars you can ever have.

so i set mine to 50, like this, example:

i changed the amount of vehicles in every category to 50 in my file. i also know its a pain in the ass to do that to every section, so if you want to try my file out, you can get it here, but backup your popcycle.dat first!

 

make a copy of your popcycle.dat, in the data folder, and put that over the original if you want to try it out.

hehe I just read that looking in popcyc.

 

Yea, you were the person I was talking to about this before. How much of an impact on framerate can this cause/does this cause on your gameplay?

not much, in terms of fps dropping. btw, i have my stream settings @

memory 51200

devkit_memory 51200

 

btw, the most cars i've ever gotten onscreen at once is around 30. so i dont know what else, if anything is capping the limit, but i dont think its possible to achieve the 50 i have in that file. still, i have deadly traffic jams (seriously, ever seen 20+ cars explode over 30 seconds? its hilarious!) and highway traffic that is almost impossible to weave at times..

any way to change the distance you can see cars from? 30 cars spread over a bigger distance would be cool

well, sounds like a plan for me to try, is that "code" up there in your first message copyable directly back to my popcyc file? I mean, do u know if it will have a formattig problem if i just copy it, highlight the copied area, and paste it directly back into my popcyc? of course, I will be sure to back up rolleyes.gif or do u think I should change the int's by hand?
