flyingbig
Everytime i change the radio i notice a very small stutter as the game changes the radio station. I decided to put all the radio stations on the hard disk rather than stream them off the dvd. What i want to know is if this is normal, if it is then its no problem but if it's not normal i would like to fix to before i commit myself to this great game. Cheers. Cheers. i wouldnt worry about it if it is just a stutter... if it was me iwould assume that it was using my system's resources a little too much for that split second, but then everything is going bac to order... EDIT: defag your hard drive once a week. (at the very least, and over and over again until it does nothing new)
flyingbig
I started this post hoping it was normal, some feedback would help. The stutter is very minor and the best way to see it is to get in a car and use the right analogue stick to rotate the camera around the car and then change the radio station and look for a small stutter. Once you know what you are looking for its easy to spot if you change the radio station while driving around the city. Would be great if someone could test this out for me as if its just my pc doing this i will need to get cracking on a solution to it. If its normal and everyones does it then i'll just get cracking on playing the game. I know which i would prefer.

Ladfromwales85
Is it really a problem? Look at your HDD light when driving around, you'll see that it is pretty much constantly flickering as the game is constantly pulling textures from the hard drive. When you change the radio station, the hard drive has to seek to where the data is on the drive. This sudden action, will cause a bottleneck in getting the graphics textures off the drive, as it is busy seeking to the radio station. If you are running the radio stations from the CD, you may see the problem more, as seeking and spinning up cdroms, specifically IDE, has always caused the system to slowdown (try getting out of a car for a while, to allow the cdrom to slow down, then get in a car....) All I could really suggest is to put the radio stations on a physically separate drive. A faster drive may fix the problem too. Even a 7200RPM 8MB cache HDD has a high amount of activity when driving around on GTA games
