wbrokow1
I am using the san andreas gta on the xbox. Is there a way I can make it so that my kids can only do "good" missions. Vigilante, taxi, ambulance & fire. These seem to be the tamest things to do. Everything else in the game is too violent. Does anyone have suggestions to lock out violent activities. I want to do this without them knowing it, they might defeat it! THhanks

wbrokow1
Yes I know, you are 100% correct. I just want to appease them for awhile. They will get bored it soon. Again any suggestions, OTHER than trying a different game.
thedude777
I agree! It's a violent video game. The name says it all. THE RATING! Did you look at that at all? Rate M for: Blood & gore Intense violence Strong Language Strong Sexual content Use of Drugs
S.A.Supra77
DUDE! these guys are right, I'm sorry but you STILL have to buy another game if you dont want it violent. GTA has a history of violent stuff and R* WON'T make a GTA that is not violent, Cuz that is what makes the game famous!!! So no matter what you do in the game a person will die or there will be a gunshot:p Plus there are gangs in the game and your kids might be liking this game. And that they will join a gang and do the same things from the game in real life!!!Go with zeek's idea plz? (thedude777 is right too about the rating) Edited June 18, 2005 by S.A.Supra77

Sutherland
Well I'm going to be awkwardly constructive and say "why dont you ask in the mission mods forum and see if someone could help you out by making an x-box mod that cuts out the storyline missions and leaves the whole city open for exploration." Wethere or not X-box version can be modded I have No idea, im a ps2 man myself but its worth asking about it. The only other problem is there is alot of swearing and other violent stuff outside of missions too so you could have problems there. Maybee if the offensive sound effect were deleted or something, trouble is most of the pedestrains and CJ himself swear alot, pretty mcuh in everything they say so anyone who would go through removing bad comments would be there til thier hair falls out and they need stickytape to hold thier teeth in. Everythins else isnt too bad, except for the prostituion and the running people over, and the shooting people. You can still have alot of fun doing taxi driving and the train driving missions though so at least theres one good non violent thing. Really Im going to have to the same conclusion as the other guys and say you'd be better off with another game but whatever you do dont take it back, 'tis a classic and they'll enjoy it when they turn 18. And who knows maybee sometime in the future you could flog it at auction for millions. The possibilities are endless . I've finished rambling on now so i'll crawl back into my cave... Sutherland
Erm, I'd reccomend thouroughly Gran Turismo 4. Its not violent but really good fun. Also if you still want to give the aspect of driving round a city then Need For Speed Underground 2. Its like playing with hotwheels again for me Cheers, Sutherland

Kato
I have been playing GTA games since I was 10 and nothing screwed me up. I understand/have understood that: It is just a game, and actions in the game are not to be imitated in real life, The game is about choice, really, and if you don't want to kill people you don't have to (though I do, heheh ), One of the points of killing games/games where you can kill is to let you let out your frustration so you don't actually kill people, Now, I have never *seriously* though about killing a person, buying(renting?) a prostitute, using drugs (although CJ doesn't use drugs other gang mebers do), burning down a building, or any other actions I have seen or done in the game. I understand that not all kids work that way, but I'm just giving an example, GTA never made me do anything. I would let your kids (especially at 12) play GTA3, VC, SA, or any other violent/sexual/whatever game they want to play. -Kato
Pandemic0rgasm
wbrokow1 Just beat the game all that will be left are the side missions, but as others have said... I don't see how that makes the game approrpiate for kids anyway. Get them a nintendo

However, for a more clear-cut good/bad game, I recommend Manhunt, also by Rockstar.
WellsMcK
I'm 12. Well almost. But gta is just a game as long as they do bad things in the game and don't do it in real life then there is nothing to worry about. Just because I kill someone in a game doesn;t mean I'm gonna do it in real life. My parents are the ones who told me about gta and it made games more fun. Gta isn't bad enough for me. Actually it is not bad at all. I drive around and do missions and anything else... I do have to say it is cool that the gta games are getting bigger and better. ripple
"What kind of game is 'Grand Theft Auto?'" "Hm....well, you can uh....hop into police cars and chase down criminals, you can be a paramedic, and you can even put out fires in a fire truck!" "Wow! Why the heck would anyone give a 'M' rating to this game?" "I know, f**king idiots...."
WellsMcK
The main point of the game is in it's title. Grand Theft Auto= stealing cars. What you said is the boring stuff you can in GTA. I don't do cop/paramedic/firefighter missions they're boring. This is not for the guy above me. Edited June 19, 2005 by MckMan31
Agent Ozzy
this type of stuff never effected me when i was growing up. you see i am 19. and when i was younger my mom always told me the same thing about movies, tv, video games...something apperently no parents do these days. she always told me "They are not real" Yes it is as simple as that. These games ARE NOT REAL. if parents would tell there kids that more often then games and ofer media outlets would not get blamed for violence when it is not even there fault. As for a game that woul;d be good, you said you had xbox? theres many games that are good. but Fable is suppose to be excelent
The Schmoo
GTA3 or VC eliminate almost all of the swearing, so they're a good choice. I think 12 or 13 is a good cutoff for SA and younger for VC and 3. I'm 14, it's not harming me. Otherwise, yeah, get NFSU2 or Rockstar's own Midnight Club 3: Dub Edition.
