kaihoro13
hi, well, you might say: "yeah, we already know it's with this ac97 stuff", but I just wanted to make clear that the main game bug is sound-related. I personally have NO ac97 onboard, but a creative audigy1 with all latest drivers. man, I was so hot for that game, but it kept crashing to BSOD to me only after a few secs-minutes. I tried everything driver related - didn't work. And believe me, I know what I'm doing. I'm almost certain it's not a video problem, 'cause crashing does not depend on video settings. It's always accompanied by cracking and fiieeping noises, witch points to the soundcard. I reinstalled it and accidently didn't turn on the sourround mode. well, it worked for about an hour now in fine stereo. then it crashed again, but only to desktop, great! I hope either rockstar or creative will do something about it. Meanwhile I hope it works for another hour. my specs: AMD 3200+, Radeon 9800XT, 1GB DDR400, Audigy1, +plus usual Stuff all watercooled and normaly a super-stable system
kaihoro13
ok, it seems tech support at rockstar slightly know what they are doing. the tip to minimize sound hardware acceleration does work. no crashes so far. but thy sound goes out of sync, especially in cutscenes. so it's not really a good solution. and why should you disable sound hardware in a game that features eax advanced hd anyways...??? downgrading directx is out of question. too much system intervention for "just a game". well, at least its playable...and graphics do look great at 1280x1024 3xaa very high
