RMT
Well if it says you can't play it with Win98. You can't play it with Win98. But you actually tried playing it with Win98? Pacrel Focre
Losik
...but no-one (esecially R*) will make game working on 98. I think if it was possible, RockStar would do such a thing, but...
Faramir
I'm in the same boat, with the game coming to me next week... It apparently worked for many on 98SE, though. Fingers crossed. If not... well, I suspect I'll have to select a separate partition and waste it to install that worthless damn piece of garbage, Winblows XtremecraP... and use it only to run SA. :\ I have two last hopes ATM... first that someone at Rockstar's tech department gets a replacement brain for the one that he flushed down the toilet, and, once he gets his new brain, he'll slap his forehead, yell "Why the hell was I so stupid?", and will prepare a patch to run the game on the normal OS (fat chance of that happening)... or second (hopefully), that someone who actually has a brain will do to Rockstar the same thing that another person with a brain did to TLG with "Thief III" - release a quick method of modifying the game's main executable, so that it runs flawlessly on W98. ("Thief III" wouldn't run, the official requirement stated "2000 or XP only", and TLG claimed in their forums and support that this will never change, but a clever man mooned them by showing what to do to the main .exe file to make it W98-compatible; and it worked beautifully, too - after using that highly unofficial (ANTIofficial, even ) fix, I completed the whole Thief III under 98 without a single crash or freeze... I sincerely hope this could be done with SA, too) Edited July 2, 2005 by Faramir
spin.kill
Faramir, are you living under a rock ? XP is proved and MADE to be more stable, faster, secure, customizable and flexible than any Win variation that appeared before it:sui:

joeiudi
I wouldn't worry about it chief. I found out about it not being able to run on Windows 98se after I had been playing it on Windows 98se for TWO DAYS! So far the only issue I've had is having to delete the gta_sa file after changing my resolution settings....but it seems many people have to delete that file for various reasons. So like I said breathe easy, the game should work! ~JoE~
