caf Posted September 4, 2005 Share Posted September 4, 2005 Seems that lot of peoples have trouble with that mission (so am I) I find the plane handling in GTA SA to be ridiculous. It's a pleasure to drive cars, bike, boats, choppers but plane are just weird (and I am polite here). I will try to hack the handling.cfg and see if I can do it. LLD Posted September 5, 2005 Share Posted September 5, 2005 I found the easiest way was, once I spotted the plane I would turn facing the exact same position and slowed myself down alot but enough to keep myself stable. But I pressed the wrong joystick button and ejected from the shamal while driving it back to airport. I was so pissed off I did not play for 3 days. Then 2 more try and I made it. I had the same problem with the mission 'Supply & Demand' on Vice City, but then i finally did it, after 342 tries!! Back on topic... The way i did this mission was to fly to the west of the yellow marker for a bit, then went straight towards it, just making it. You just have to make sure you turn at the right time. I always approach the shamal from the left and turn the dodo around as soon as i see the shamal. Some pointers for people struggling with this mission. 1- Keep a good eye on the yellow target (square = equal height) on your minimap to make sure you fly on the same height, so you will visualise the coming plane. 2- When you see the plane coming to you, turn 180 right away. (the plane your chasing is only faster when you are far behind, however if you 're reasonably behind it, your plain will be slightly faster.) 3-When your chasing it, don't oversteer! Don't bank too much, or better not at all. Use 'look left'en 'look right' *Also make sure you are holding the right gun before you get on the plain, because get in enemy fire right away. Asswipe Posted October 17, 2005 Share Posted October 17, 2005 Hi All, To all those people suffering with their Pc GTA`s, why dont you people just buy a PS2 style controller for your Pc`s. You would probably be able to configure it to work under the same button configuration as a PS2. I do have a little theory about using the mouse and keyboard as opposed to a PS2 style controller. The PS2 controller has pressure sensitive buttons. So perhaps the keyboerd and mouse configuration are not allowing you to put full power. Just a thought you might want to look into. First off, several people have talked about raising/lowering the landing gear on the Dodo . . .um, impossible--it's a fixed gear plane!! I'm really surprised that so many people are having that hard a time with such an easy mission. Admittedly the Dodo (and other fixed-wing planes in SA) have really terrible flight characteristics. Rockstar should hire some programmers from the Microsoft Flight simulators to help them get the flight modeling right---the GTA planes fly like s**t. Even so, with a little practice in the Dodo this mission ain't that hard. Just fly out above the incoming jet, make a tight 180 turn as it passes beneath you and dive down on the trailing corona. Anyone ought to be able to do it with just a few tries. I reloaded this mission today and passed it 3 out of 3 times. Forget about changing the config files (that's cheating to me, but to each his own); just learn to fly! Some have suggested it couldn't be done cause you're chasing a jet with a single-engine light-plane. But supposedly the jet is slowed for a landing approach into LV--it definitely isn't flying full speed (though in real life, no way could a piston-engine bug smasher catch up with a Lear-type jet like the Shamal, even at final approach airspeed!)
