Introducing San Andreas Mod Installer

Recommended Posts

Perhaps you can insert a option to choose language. if you do it i will tranlate SAMI into German. Perhaps i' ll find a person who traslate it also in Romanian. don't know. colgate.gif Please answer.

Multi-lingual support is already planned but will not be available in the first version. But it will more than likely be available in the following version.

In Your Nightmares
Cp - The S.A.M.I Looks great. You probally dont member me by this nick. But in the day on Gtahq's i was IN^YOUR^DREAMS. Now Back on topic. I really havent installed any mods to Sa yet. As soon as more comes out that appeals to my eye I will certainly use this to do so.

UPDATE: (Progress: 93%)

I have successfully got the handling.cfg line detection working. Here's what SAMI can do regarding the handling line as of now:

-Search all text files (readme's, etc) for handling.cfg lines

-Find all possible handling lines

-Perform in-depth verification for each line: look for correct number of fields, correct vehicle name, etc

-If multiple handling lines are included with the vehicle, SAMI will ask the user to select one

-User can manually edit any of the handling lines by double-clicking on them.

Now it's on to the vehicles.ide and carcols.dat lines. Then after that, I write the code to allow you to choose which vehicle to replace (and convert all handling lines, filenames, etc). After that, there's not much left to do with vehicle installing becuase I already have all of the needed code for actually installing the vehicle.

After I'm done with the vehicle installation, I'm going to do a major bug termination (though there probably won't be many bugs, since I've been bug testing pretty much everything as it's created). smile.gif

Then after that.....

will a easy car handling editor with a description for the respective value be included?

I already have plans of implementing one, but it will not be until a later version.

Oh yeah, here's a new screenshot: smile.gif

Is anyone doing the Chinese version, If not, i will take it.

how is this translate works?

you send me the englsih text, i translate it and sent back to you.

I hope it is done that way, becasue i don't a lot about programing,

No one has offered to translate to Chinese yet. I have added you to my contact list. And yes, all you do is translate a simple text file.

UPDATE: (Progress: 96%)

RELEASE DATE: September 2nd (tomorrow)

I have successfully got all of the vehicle detection working good.......damn good as a matter of fact. The detection is so much better than it was with GTA Mod Installer. If there are handling lines included with the vehicle, SAMI will find them with no problems. smile.gif

All that is left to do is create the code to allow you to choose which vehicle to replace. But with the way I've done the coding, that will be a piece of cake. smile.gif

I promise everyone will be rewarded for their patience for SAMI to be released. I mean, you can literally install a mod with just a couple clicks. I'm just as excited about this as everyone else is because of what somehow managed to accomplish. biggrin.gif

Less than a day folks.......less than a day...

UPDATE: (Progress: 99%)

I have successully got the vehicle detection and installation working. This means SAMI will find all vehicle data lines, DFF\TXD files, allow you to choose a car to replace (and will convert everything as necessary), and can install the vehicle. smile.gif

All that's left to do is create the design for one more page, then add just a few little things that I haven't added yet, make sure it's bug free, create the installer, and then it will be released. colgate.gif

However, it is currently 6AM and I must get some rest. Once I manage to pry myself out of bed later on, I'll finish the remaining parts of SAMI. smile.gif

ALL RIGHT! Can't wait for this beauty. It seems like 'major' modders arent interested in this rolleyes.gif

I can personally install mods manually myself, but come on, this is just so much better. And it auto-backups too, and has a ton of features.

Anyhows..

I think you shouldn't include a handling editor; instead add support for Cerb's CFG Studio I'm sure he wouldn't mind smile.gif What I mean, if you highlight a handling line in SAMI then you can press a 'Launch CFG Studio' button and walla, it launches it with that handling line inputted (when you press it for the first time it asks you for the paths to CFG Studio, and the default handling.cfg path to open in CFG Studio).

Sounds nice to me! I'm sure nice Cerbera and you can arrange that smile.gif

SAMI is now %100 complete. smile.gif

As you read this post, I am creating the readme file and installer. Once I'm done with that I will upload it to a website and it will be available for download.

So don't go anywhere because SAMI is going to finally reveal himself in a few minutes. smile.gif
