Introducing San Andreas Mod Installer

Recommended Posts

I'd do the German translation. smile.gif

Thanks! I'll definitely need a German translation, since it's probably the second most used language in the GTA scene. smile.gif

UPDATE:

I've gotten the IMG editing feature of San Andreas working really good now, thanks to the awesome work of Arushan (Aru) for providing me with a console version of his Spark img editor. smile.gif

Also, if a mod has a whole lot of files that will deal with IMG editing, SAMI will be much faster than GTA Mod Installer was because SAMI will open the IMG file once, perform all the commands, then save it. Where as GTA Mod Installer opened the img file, performed a single command, saved it, and did this repeatedly for each file.

cpmusik, your GMI was definetly great, I used it quite a lot. SAMI sounds so much better, I hope it's finished soon.

I live in Israel, so I guess I could translate it to Hebrew if ya wanted but there are probably like 20 Israeli people in the modding scene, lol.

Looking forward for SAMI rah.gif -Bigun

Wooo! This is prob. going to rock! For people that have the program that you are using (autoplay media studio 5, i'm lucky to have it in full version) after the release, you might want to consider releasing the source code to people who want to do things like this similar (again, me). I realllly don't know anything about scripting in media studio, all i know to do is put buttons and put a lame message or a lame find directory dialog! Anyways, this is pretty awesome how you've managed to do so much in such little time...

Sorry if I went tooooooooooooooooooooooo off topic! colgate.gif

Thanks for the offer, however, someone else has already offered to translate to Hewbrew. However, if they can't for some reason, then I'll let you do it.

Sorry, but I don't plan on releasing the source code. I'm putting to much work into this. tounge.gif The way I learned AutoPlay Media Studio was actually by using the help files that come with it. That, combined with my natural ability to figure things out, is how I learned. wink.gif

So a.... when can we expect this mod installer, loved the vice city one you did, blew my friends away. Any release date in mind for this installer?

I'm working hard on it and want to get it released soon. However, I'm not going to rush it because that will result in a sloppy outcome. biggrin.gif I'm working hard on it nearly everyday though, so it shouldn't be too much longer I hope.

man i loved ure gmi, and just a question were u the guy who made vcmm?

Nope, that wasn't me.

how this mod is going?

It's coming along nicely. I haven't had too much time to work on it over the past week or so. I'm trying to work on it every chance I get.

I have gotten quite a bit done since the last update though. I've got the script creating part working great, as well as other miscellaneous features. I'm currently working on the "core" part of it now, which will take the most time. This is the part that will do the actual script reading and installing, as well as file backup, and so on.

I'm implementing quite a bit of features for a first release, which is why it's not out yet. However, it will be worth the wait. I promise. smile.gif

Any chance of some pre-release screenshots so people can see your current interface designs?

Well the only screens that I have completed are already posted on pages 1 and 2 of this thread. I'll try to get some more later on, but right now I'm trying to get all of the coding done, then I'll finish the remaining screen designs.

Let me start off by saying: Oh my dear LORD, we need this tool. I have tried to add three (only three) cars to SA, and each time, I've had crashes, lock-ups where all I can do is push the power button to reboot, weird sound errors but no car, an engine sitting in the front seat of a car, etc. I long for the day I can just fire up SAMI and go.

I do, however, realize that it takes time to make a masterpiece. So take your time and hopefully, we'll see this baby available for download sometime in the near future.

Wow! Just can't wait!

I have a question, since I just started modding GTA from SA (I don't know anything about modding GTA3/VC), is/was it possible to add vehicles rather than replace them? If so, it would be a crucial feature to SAMI. Just a thought. Sorry for being a noob tounge2.gif

Goodluck with the progress.

post a pic of the engine in the front seat of a car lol

I'd like to, but unfortunately, I didn't think to get a screenshot of it...Just imagine a silver Ferrari F50 with the engine sitting between the seats...I tell ya, their R&D on heat shielding must be light years ahead of everyone else, if you tried driving any other car with the engine in your lap, you'd be cooked...
