EazyCheeze
I've been wondering if it's possible to mod a script or something to the effect that all of a radio station, such as WCTR, is listenable in-game. I do miss hearing all the I Say, You Say, Wild Traveler, Gardening with Maurice, Tight-End Zone, and Entertaining America, and the News of course, from earlier -- I've beaten the game, and heard many times the things you normally hear after finishing the game on the station: * Discussion of Drs. Peyton and Mary Philips's threesome with the producer * the poor guy in Verdant Bluffs contemplating suicide * the stupid guy who put pesticide in the sprinklers ("My kids love it! Well, those that survived...") * Derek crapping his pants and talking about traditions of sports * Cris Formage urging Lazlow to join the Epsilon group, * News of Tenpenny and Madd Dogg, and Richard's secret love affair with Lianne It does seem like something that's scriptable. I've mentioned this in the mod wishlist, but no one's gotten back to me on it. So if anyone could help me on this, or even if I'm doomed never to hear them again (without starting a new game, of course, which is out of the question for something this small in scope), tell me Thanks, EazyCheeze
Chimpanzee
I'm no expert when it comes to modding but it seems to me that if you could convert the appropriate radio station files into mp3s you could put them in your personal music folder and listen to them that way. I dunno? Just a suggestion?
EazyCheeze
I remember discussion of mp3s and stuff like that is a major no-no here and some topics got closed/people were banned for it. I already considered the MP3 aspect, but two problems exist with that: * We don't yet know the format the files are archived/encapsulated in; * Rockstar wouldn't like for us to deconstruct their resource files. So I won't So I do hope there's a scripting solution. (Do you notice I like bullet points?

That seems pretty moronic to me that we could own the game and yet be chastised for extracting the audio to enjoy at our leisure. I guess it must be in the EULA somewhere. EazyCheeze
Probably, yes. Though such a document was not included with the book/package, I can assume that it's implied, as every other game I have comes with one, and says something like you can't decompile or reverse-engineer the game code without written permission. But then again, the absence of something like that could be telling... hmmmm...
Klund
I made a post about this before but it was closed and recieved a PM saying were not allowed to talk about it on the forums and that theres a reason rockstar has a soundtrack boxset out...but they didn't really read my post I guess. I don't really care about the music thats on the soundtrack, I can sit in game and listen to that if I wanted. Much like this poster I just wanted to listen to the talk radio station (which isnt included in the soundtrack) and hear the tidbits that I missed playing through the game. I didn't even bother with talk radio until *spoiler* I stole the harrier jet from the aircraft carrier and heard the DJ asking how the military lost a 60 million dollar jet *spoiler*. So after that I was curious as to whatelse of the storyline was on the radio that I missed.

End user license agreements are never included as a booklet, they are one of the screens that you have to click yes on when you install the game. Usually there will also be a text file somehwere in the installation Folder with the EULA. But you can count on the the EULA prohibiting the extraction of audio and other files (including files used for modding).
nikehair
I just want to be able to mix my own songs into the stations.

If the only reason for these threads to be closed is the existence of a soundtrack boxset, that is patently idiotic. I'm trusting there must be something actually legal that precludes this activity. If you want the pretty soundtracks cds, professionally cut and arranged, then buy the boxset. I paid for my game and that includes the music. That's like telling me I can listen to a music cd only off the cd, but if I rip it and mix it up with something else, I've violated something. Sounds like something heavy-handed the RIAA would try to pull. . . I would be suprised if the EULA prohibited audio extraction and not the extraction of other files to help with modding. If so, then it's entirely hypocritical to allow modding discussion to take place and choke down on the audio extraction. That being said, I'm not trying to step on anyone's legal toes here. It is what it is, in the end.
Klund
I agree with you entirely, though I can't blame them for trying to cover their butts. Personally I just wanted to hear the talk radio tidbits that I may have missed somewhere along the lines.
EazyCheeze
Wonder how my topic got all buried and stuff... I just hope I can raise awareness of the need for a mod to allow us to hear 'previous' clips in all stations. I'm sure it's really easy to do, even though I looked through all the text files (scripts) in the directories and found no reference to the words 'wctr' or 'radio'... guess all that's in the big resource files. Playbahnosh
Damn people! Why do they close down all topics regarding audio extraction? This is just stupid! I BOUGHT the game unlike many leechers across globe, and I BOUGHT the game music, the radio chatter and the ads too. I OWN it! Why can't I just do anything with them as I want? I don't care about the music there, I alrrady have most of them in my CD rack. I only want to listen to the WCTR and the Radio X chatter outside the game. There lotsa radio extractors for GTA3 and Vice City, and nobody said anything against that. So why we just can't export the SA stations too? I extracted the radio stations from VC and compiled them to CD. I just listen to them in the car, those are much better than regular radio
