hscott
Is there any way to use an .m3u playlist?
joebob5
Try this program. http://www.smartaudioconverter.com/ It can convert most formats to ogg vorbis and then send it right to your user tracks folder.

hscott
Sorry maybe you misunderstood. I have a playlist file which contains files in multiple folders on my computer. I don't want to create shortcuts to each track as I have around 1000 mp3's in about 50 folders. I used Media Player's library function to create a playlist of all the music on my computer. P.S. Does SA play mp3's?
stormm12
SA does play mp3s. Here are the steps I took. 1) Place all the mp3s you would liek to listen to into the My Documents\GTA San Andreas User Files\User Tracks folder 2) Open SA and go into the options menu 3) Select "Audio" from the options list and select the menu item that says something like "user tracks" 4) There should be a choice to "configure user tracks," or something along those lines. This will allow SA to scan the mp3s you put into the SA user tracks folder. Hope this helps stormm12
hscott
Thanks storm Do you know about m3u playlists and whether there is a way to play them. I have downloaded the SAPlaylister program from GTAGaming.com but I don't know how to use it because there is no readme file.
stormm12
Unfortunately I don't know how to use playlists with SA, I just use the default user tracks settings. But, there are several posts on this forum that outline how to use playlists with the game. Just browse through or do a search. Sorry I can't be of more help, and good luck stormm12
GTA3Freak-2001
No SA doesn't support playlists, you have to use shortcuts sorry.
Old School Hustla
I'm glad someone broke the ice on this topic. I didn't want to ask how to get my tunes working in the "User Tracks Folder" in fear of the GTA snobs bashing me over the head for a stupid question. I dropped a bunch of MP3s into the User Tracks Folder but they were'nt there in the game.(?) Am I to understand that I have to right click each song I want and create a shortcut for it and send it to the GTA SA tracks folder? That's rather inconvienent... GTA3Freak-2001
Well I'd assume putting the raw .mp3 file in there would work as well, having said that though the ingame menu actually says shortcuts so maybe it only works with shortcuts. I find it better because I have my MP3's sorted in folders so I need to have shortcuts to them ingame, you do know you can select all the songs you want and right click drag them to the User Tracks folder where you can select to create shortcuts of them all. A$$A$$IN
I was lazy, and just copied my entire library of music straight into the user tracks folder. I just left the tracks in their original folders from itunes and it seems to work fine, although wasting space .
Strawp
I wrote a tool to import m3u playlists into San Andreas last week, but it was in PHP. I've now packaged it up so that it should run on any PC. http://www.strawp.net/files/download/m3u_sanandreas_bin.zip I've not tested it on any computers other than my own. Let me know if it works or not! Edited June 15, 2005 by Strawp
Flames
Ok, here is a simple way to do it. Go to your GTA San Andreas User Files directory, then User Tracks, right click and select Create New Shortcut, then Browse to find the directory where all your music is. Click on that folder, then press Ok, then go in-game and go to Audio, then scan it, and it should then be working! Voila!

Couldn't find the solution for my inserted-in-the-folder-but-non-playing mp3's, but now it's working! woo-hooo!
TCP/IP
Ah.. I didn't go through the scanning the files which was why it didn't work for me.. I didn't find anything about this in the guide with the dvd... There was some tool I used with Vice City to add tracks there but don't remember where to get it from...
