Freddy Needs A Nanny
I was going to get San Andreas for PC and was wondering... How different is it to GTAIII in all/any aspects (gameplay, graphics, etc)? (I'm disregarding VC since I didn't like it, the 80s are annoying. ) What does it look like on an 128mb GeForce MX 4000? If someone has that video card, take a screenshot if you can, I'd like to see what it looks like compared to better cards. - Travis
SPIRI
Well, there's a lot more to do, more things to when not on a mission, and the controls are quite different (guess that has something to do with gameplay too ). The graphics are a lot bettet than both GTAIII and VC, it's still the classic GTA-style but it is better, the cars looks better, and the lights aren't just a cube flying in front or behind the actually light on the car (hope you understand ). GTA3Freak-2001
Well since you thought the 80's were annoying I won't help you! Nah just kidding Umm about what it looks like on the card you have, well it depends what settings you have it on. It can look pretty similar on every card provided you use the same settings. If your wanting to know how it looks but at the same time playable then you'd need to tell us your system specs. But in comparison to GTA3 it looks better and as far as gameplay its the same stuff but just expanded on however you may have to get used to a few things since the controls are slightly different. Freddy Needs A Nanny
My specs are... 768mb of RAM 2.8ghz Pentium 4 128mb GeForce 4 MX 4000 My video card doesn't support shaders...how much different does it look without them?
9Iron
I'm playing SA on a 2.4ghz P4, 512mb RAM, and MX440 card---it plays surprisingly well, albeit with all settings on low. I think the graphics and gameplay overall are better than both GTA3 and VC....but I'm definitely still going to upgrade my video card so I can turn up the settings (there's some nice deals on Ebay!). 9Iron
What I can tell is that graphic detail and game physics are superior to the earlier games; I don't think you'd have any prob's enjoying the game with your system as is. That said, I'd strongly recommend upgrading your card (as I'm going to do) for overall improved performance.

The MX 4000 is the best of the worst (it has more pipelines and things than the 440 ones), but that doesn't mean it's not bad. I do very much need a video card with pixel shaders, 99 percent of the new generation of games require it.
9Iron
After first installing SA, I went right into the game and was immediately disappointed with the terrible framerates...everything was in slow motion. After a half hour of introductory play (laughing at the 'colorful' new dialogue), I went into options and turned the Res down to the lowest (640X480?) setting, and set the Visuals from High to Low---this greatly improved the framerates and actually made the game playable. I think you'll really want to upgrade your system to fully enjoy this game though.

Hmm.
