Raven737
I played GTA:SA for a while and all the Blur effects are making me sick. At first i thought it was a rpoblem with my graphics card, but then i tried it on my other computer with a totally different one and it was still horrible. I am talking about: a.) Speed/Motion Blur.. drive fast and you will see 'ghosting' on all objects.. b.) Heat-Rising Shimmer/Blur Effect, in the afternoon, in certain areas, the entire screen is horribly blurry, this i believe is supposed to be a heat rising/shimmer effect, but very badly done. I would like to know if there is any possible way to disable all these blur effects, or for that matter all pixel shaders, I would not mind the lack sh**ty pixel shader effect and certainly would not mind the performance boost that disableing them would give. I have attempted to remove the shaders myself, but only got so far as to disable the pixel shader compilation, which worked in terms of performance imporvement and blur removal, but unfortunatly there is still the screen overlay texture that i can't remove. I have posted some screen shots below: Heat Blur: (see CJ's Head, fence on left, light pole on right) Motion Blur: (see lightpole on right, etc) My Pixel Shader removel hack.. the squares you see are the from the textures that don't have the pixel shaders applied to them, hence you can see them.. they are from the rising heat blur crap. I actually prefer to play with my ps removal hack, even though it doesn't look good, at least it runs much better and i don't have motion blur but PLEASe .. osmeone.. PLEASe make a way to STOP these pixel shaders.. they are horrible! Edited June 11, 2005 by Raven737
jesushumper
Eww.. Personally, i don't mind the effects.. If you have an ATI card, I'd suggest getting an awesome program called 'Radlinker', just search for it. It assigns cutom graphics tweak to specific games, well, ANY .exe. Install it, (it intergrates into Windows shell, so it doesn't run in teh background) Right click you GTA:SA shortcut OR the .exe itself and select 'Custom settings". Then right click again and select Properties. Click on teh Direct 3D tab adn alter the settigns in there. In the scrolling menu there will be two pull-down menus for teh Shaders, one for Pixel Shader version, and one for Vertex Shader version. Try moving them both down a version and try it out. Since I'm not sure which version SA uses, youmay not see a difference until you go down MORE than one version. So try that. For -my- 9800pro, the available version are 1.0, 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 1.4 and 2.0. I'm guessign SA uses 1.4 I think the in-game "low" effects setting kills those effects as well, but i'm not sure. But if you have an nVidia card, I think you're screwed. aybe there's a program like Radlinker for nVidia GPUs but I dont' know. Hope that helps. PS - if you see no shader version option, then selecet 'Advaned" mode under the 'Custom' tab. have fun
