TwoZero
I've written one for PS2, hopefully it still works for PC.Download Backup your files first. Nope it does not work, well the entry names/values are messed up, and everything get swapped around when you save a file.
Hammer83
This sucks EDIT: Actually, the fact that entries are stored in different positions doesn't matter that much (I guess). As long as the game shows the entries, it's fine, no? Note that entries in SA gxt are stored as CRC32. So unless you save the entry names to the ini-file, they will reset when you open the file next time. Edited June 12, 2005 by Hammer83
TwoZero
Well, correction, it does work, it was just me who was messed up last night at 3:41am. I added my own entry now, to the main table, named COORDS to display in game coords on screen. And after some messing around I figured out how the tool worked because at first it didn't want to save the value. But it is saved now, and its there according the editor, but won't show up in game if I use it through scm. Probably me once again who f*cks up though. Hammer83
Version 1.2 released. Download. New in this version: - Faster UI updates after item deletion/addition. - Automatic read-only clearance. - Multiligual support, with English and Russian translation by me and French translation by [-Akado-]. For Russian language to work, you must set Russian language in Advanced tab of Regional Settings in Control Panel (assuming WinNT based operating system). - Tested on PC, seems to work. Although it often happens with my programs that they work here and nowhere else.

However, i attempted to translate it into arabic, while arabic text shows up in the entries in ur prog, it doesnt show up at all in the game. I have my regional settings set to arabic language in the advanced tab. could you help me out with this problem. it may possibly involve reconfiguring the default fonts that SA uses, via font.dat or some other file. Thanx again for ur help, Regards, Tdl

random_download
@Hammer: does your tool do anything extra when reading the gxt and when displaying the contents of different tables? It seems to load them slowly for me for some reason :s

Viper187
Nice editor, but why are the entry names hex values? How can I figure out what text the SCM is using when it calls sh*t like "C_CANC" ?
Hammer83
The entries are stored as a CRC32 checksum of the entry name. Thus it's not possible to directly know which entry the number comes from. This is why the editor displays the checksum. You can find the entry you need by using "Find by name" in the Search menu. If the entry is found, it will be automatically renamed to that name and the correspondance between the name and the checksum will be stored in the ini file with the same name as the gxt file. The editor also has the option String List Match (which is always disabled by my mistake in the current version) which asks you to provide a list of GXT entry names (for instance those that you might have extracted somehow from the scm, ide, or exe files) and then tries to match the CRCs in the file to each string in the list. Anyway, if remember in ini option is enabled, the next time you load this file it will read the known names from the ini. With time, hopefully we'll have a complete ini with all the entries. When this happens, I'll include it in the archive. random_download, next version will have instantaneous table switching. AleXXX, yes I am. Extreme Gimp
So what if want to add something and call the tag in the main scm "RSTOP"... how would i know what code to put in the gxt editor? OR, if i just put "RSTOP" in that place, will it still pick it up?
ZanderZ
I'm willing to do a Dutch translation I've worked with feroCT5 on GTA Texter, maybe you two could team up? (he works in Delphi) We've had some good progress on the CRC32 part

DracoBlue
( Sorry to double post this into this board, but I think this is a better place :9 ) Someone posted into the gta-modder-wiki and here that the gxtnames are crc32values of the ones used by main.scm, thatswhy I tried it with my crc32-Tool for INTRO_1 but it doesn't give me the expected value (3DFE5E49) , so I think it isn't correct to say that they are crc32values. Someone else any idea what It may be? See you, Edited June 23, 2005 by DracoBlue
ZanderZ
Yes, I do The value is simply NOT crc32() and then convert it to hexadecimal obviously
DracoBlue
Damn! This works for the example I gave but not for INTRO_2 -> 6048D1A9 Nice try, but it doesn't work. Btw. I do not think that R* made such difficult method to hide the strings from us ... See you,
Zach
I've been searching here and on other GTA sites for an hour or so now, but I just can't seem to find what I am looking for. I downloaded Hammer's tool (thanks Hammer!), and I want to add some of my own text (status messages and such) for my mod. Does anyone know if and where the string tokens are defined? By this I mean various strings have things like "~z~", "~o~", "~y~", etc. embedded within them. Has any deciphered all the tokens and their meaning? ZanderZ
They're probably the same as for GTA3/VC. They are color codes. Wait for GTA Texter to edit those easily. It will be done soon. Or maybe Hammer could support it in his program

aru
Yet Another GXT Editor =)http://zverik.rbcmail.ru/gxtedit13.zip Nice... but listview updating takes too long. You might want to consider disabling redraw before updating the listview and reenable it after. Look into API function SendMessage and constant WM_REDRAW. Hammer83
I feel pretty bad about bumping this topic over the one which is far more important than this one. I uploaded a new version of GTA: SA GXT Editor with some of the features requested by the users of the previous version: * Faster switching between tables. * Import from/Export to text file. * Character Map edition to correctly deal with international characters. * Small bug fixes and improvements. One of these days I'll make a site to quit bumping this topic. For now, you can download the files at the following links: GTA: SA GXT Editor 1.3 - English (463 KB) Translation modules (not necessary): English (140 KB) French (140 KB) Russian (140 KB) INI-file (contains some of the entry names for original american.gxt, not necessary): English (68 KB)
