The_Butler
Hey I was playing GTA:SA fine until the Big Smoke mission which involces the Russians and bike chased by the truck. Upon almost completing the mission the textures went missing and I was driving on blue. Ever since then things haven't worked. The game crashed at this point and I needed to restart. Then every time I reload the game crashes within side 3 minutes of it being run (this happens whether or not I stay on the menu screen or load a game). At this point I made sure that I had the latest graphics drivers and sound drivers installed and tried again to no avail. I then tried setting the desktop screen resolution to the same as the game resolution and also turning AGP Fastwrite off and setting AGP from 8x to 4x (as read on this board). Nothing. Then I unistalled the motherboard drivers (there was a mention that nForce audio drivers could be the problem and that replacing them with Realtek ones are a good idea). Still nothing. Finally I unistalled the graphics card and reinstalled it. Loaded up GTA:SA and apparently my save-game was corrupted and wouldn't load (I could cry at the wasted hours). Unistalled GTA:SA and reinstalled. Now it just crashes when trying to load a new game. Think I've tried every thing I can think of or have read here. Had to do the DXdiag fix to sort my sound out originally (turning it to basic) but since the reinstall of the game that problem has come back and the dxdiag fix won't work. Not that it matters coz I can't start a new game anyway. The only thing that I've read on these boards which I haven't done is a defrag because that doesn't help with anything unless your system is terribly fragmented (which mine isn't). No background appas are running it just won't work even though an hour a go I was happily enjoying it. Does anyone have any suggestions I've got an MSI nforce board (forget the model) AMD Athlon 2600+ 768mb DDR Ram Radeon 9800 Pro Windows XP Pro SP2 Catalyst 5.6 drivers DirectX 9.0c Please someone any help - am out of ideas apart from returning it to the shops.
