Is driving school optional?

THe search function is not working well (and searching for "driving school" would probably come up with a million hits). Anyway my question: can I skip driving school?

It all depends on your personal objectives.

 

As for as completing missions and unlocking cities and such, I think I read in the Brady guide (while skimming through it) that only the Pilot school is required to advance.

Skipping driving school will not allow you to access a certain chain of missions. I also believe, but am not certain, that it will prevent you from gaining access to Las Venturas.

to get to the Desert you have to beat

all Woozie's missions

all of Jizzie's missions

all the garage missions

Yeah dats right u can complete the storyline without doing the driving school but it fits well because after u complete it u can buy Wang Cars I think

Also, you won't be able to access the hidden street races including the airport race where you can get a Hunter and Hydra, which can play an important part in some missions.

You only need to complete Learn To Fly to gain access to Las Venturas.
