Bazrazmataz
Hi I just got san andreas today and after a few hours of playing im very frustraighted with what appears to be a hesitation every 5 or six seconds when driving mainly. The game usually suffers a mild pause and there is a skip in the music. Ive ran it on all the graphic settings from the lowest to the highest and the problem is always there in various degrees. Does anyone know what could be causing this i have a machine well over the recommended specs. Heres what im running AMD 64 3200 + 1 Gb Geil Ram X800XT 256 Mb Sound Blaster Audigy 2 My system gets a good aquamarks score of 69000 and should easily handle this game ive had no problems with other power intesive games like say doom3 . Any help ? Cheers
murdo
Have you tried any of the fixes mentioned in this place? That sounds like it could be a number of things, here is what I would try: In Windows: Turn of "System Restore" on the hard drive which you have the game installed on Make sure that "Virtual Memory" is set to "System Managed" and not manual Run "DXDIAG" and lower the "Sound" acceleration to "Standard" Disabled you anti-virus protection software before playing the game Also make sure you have the latest available drivers for your sound card. See http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=195032 for an explanation why. Not exactly the same problem, I know, but sound drivers / hardware can be responsable for up to 20% of game performance, in some cases. Also, make sure you have the latest display drivers, (ATI released new ones recently) Let us know if any of this helps.

Bazrazmataz
Ive installed new sound blaster drivers and turned sound down to normal plus stopping windows scaning the hd. I tried installing lastest ATi drivers but my windows performance was terrible and GTA would not run. I cant stress how slow windows ran with those new drivers it seemed like i was on a 8 year old machine. im currently running driver version 6.14.10.6542 Gonna run it now and see what happens ill let u guys know oh yeah i did have the frame limiter off. Anyone got any ideas what settings i should be able to run with my system spec ? Where would i get the 4.9 drivers they are not on the ati site

DJ_Mittens
Well, did you make sure you cleaned out the old drivers before installing the new ones? A dirty install of the new drivers can cause version conflicts and performance issues in-game. And no, your computer should be fine. I have a similar setup, a slower processor but a faster video card, and I'm running at 1600x1200 with 4xFSAA. I'd check the sound card drivers. Seems like SA has some serious audio issues. Myself included (I need to run on basic audio, which then messes up MP3 playback in iTunes - give and take).

Pandemic0rgasm
I think it's just that the graphics on this game are overoptimized and the scenery has the contrast turned way up... I have a monster system and everything turned all the way up and I'm not one bit impressed with the graphics. GTA SA just has sh*tty graphics.
