Scrangle
I have, just like most others, experienced some sound problems. I've tried some solutions posted here such as lowering sound acceleration in dxdiag, changing the compability mode to win 98, changing the eax.dll with a v. 3.0.6.6 and such and all have helped a bit, i still experience some problems though. When it starts to rain all sounds still mess up, the only time sound works while it's raining is when im indoor but to get sound back outdoors i have to restart the game. Sometimes it actually works to get in a car and switch between the radio channels. The same counts for fires. When you hear the sound of a fire all sound cuts out except the fire. Sometimes when you fire a gun the sound is, like someone already said on the boards, cracking up and it feels as if you dont here all of the soundfile. Once i had the other problems mentioned her on the board which makes the radio sound much louder then the sfx. I am using a sound blaster live! card. I have never experienced any problem before this with my sound. edit: I forgot to say that when im driving a car and i let go of the gas and just roll i cant hear the engine sound. ChrSu420
I'm having the exact same problem except i'm running a santa cruz sound card. I checked for drivers but there were none available. It's very frustrating to beat a mission while it's raining only to realize that you missed half of the plot because you heard no dialogue. None of the other previously posted solutions worked so I'm just wondering if this is a game glitch that will be fixed in a patch, or it's a problem with my computer. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
8-off
Also having the exact same problem. The eax.dll helped a bit, esspecially at the beginning of the game, but later, it starts skipping conversations sometimes again. Sometimes i also can't hear the cars engine, and the rain f*cks up my sound aswell. I hope they bring out a patch soon. It's certainly a bug in the game though, since almost every system has these, or similar problems. Rockstar screwed up big time with San Andreas (pc). velvetkloud
I have also been having sound problems. The speech during the game just wasnt there (cutscenes are fine though) and i seem to be missing other sounds such as my phone and punch effects. Also when i go into the main menu then return to the game a sound will have sometimes got stuck, seems to usually be a car engine sound, if i walk away from it it reduces at volume but if i look back in its direction it returns to full volume. As per the advice above i checked my dxdiag. sound1 tab wasnt showing emulated but i had sound2 and sound3 that were so i tried the regedit trick just to be sure. It was originally Emulated 1 VxD 1 WDM 1 i set emulated to 0 but it made no difference:( If rockstar can sort this with a patch i hope they do asap. velvetkloud
Ah i tried reducing my hardware acceleration in dxdiag. I get all the sounds fine If i keep it on basic but alas it means i have crackling. Better than nothing i suppose...
