I'm using a USB - PSX adapter, to play GTA San Andreas like on PS2...

But can't get the controller to work on right analog stick, the rest of the config. are ok.

Right analog stick is ment to be like the mouse or numpad 2,4,6 and 8.

Someone having same problem, or solution???

Use JoyToKey (Download), to get the right analog to work.. xmas.gif

I am using Joy2Key so my PS2 pad has the configuration I want, but I can't get it to fix the right analog problem. The best I can do is use the enable more than the X and Y axes option, but this means I can only use the right analog stick for two directions.

Could you say how Joy2Key fixes the right analog stick problem please.

Thanks.

i spent half a day yesterday figuring out how to make right analog stick work on thrustmaster gamepad, it works for me now, and

i believe this will work with any thrustmaster gamepad

1. uninstall thrustmapper (might not be needed, but i had to get rid of it to be able to recalibrate the gamepad after the registry hack)

2. run regedit (start/run/regedit)

3. go to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contr ol\MediaProperties\PrivateProperties\Joystick\OEM\"

4. find a key tree which has your gamepad name in description field - copy the key tree name value (eg. VID_079D&PID_0202)

5. save following text in some text file, named as something.reg:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\MediaProperties\PrivateProperties\Joystick\OEM\VID_044F&PID_B304\Axes]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\MediaProperties\PrivateProperties\Joystick\OEM\VID_044F&PID_B304\Axes]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\MediaProperties\PrivateProperties\Joystick\OEM\VID_044F&PID_B304\Axes\0]

@="X Axis"

"Attributes"=hex:00,00,00,00,01,00,30,00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\MediaProperties\PrivateProperties\Joystick\OEM\VID_044F&PID_B304\Axes\1]

@="Y Axis"

"Attributes"=hex:00,00,00,00,01,00,31,00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\MediaProperties\PrivateProperties\Joystick\OEM\ VID_044F&PID_B304\Axes\2]

@="Right X Axis"

"Attributes"=hex:00,00,00,00,01,00,35,00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\MediaProperties\PrivateProperties\Joystick\OEM\ VID_044F&PID_B304\Axes\5]

@="Right Y Axis"

"Attributes"=hex:00,00,00,00,01,00,36,00"

5. replace VID_044F&PID_B304 with the tree name you copied in the regedit (eg. VID_079D&PID_0202)

6. save the reg file

7. doubleclick the reg file, confirm it to add the registry entries

8. it's not over wink.gif - open the game controllers properties in Control Panel

9. open properties, and go to calibrate button there (if you have thrustmapper installed, you won't have the calibration option there, is only available with stock Microsoft drivers)

10. run the calibration - you'll see the right stick is seriously de-calibrated - so fix it by following the steps of the wizard, and

11. THAT's IT :-)

Good job imagiag, but am I alone in thinking that this just seems to be another example of extremely shoddy console to PC portery?

Directinput is there to be used. I have no problems at all with my joypad on most games I try to use it with (though I don't use it on most) and even those which are not as huge as GTA in moneyspinner terms. And yet for a game which ought to be one of the biggest this year and also a game which is played with joypads in it's native console form, the port is appalling.

Yo imagiag ,

I also have a Thrustmaster DualPower 3, I can follow your description up untill point 3, But then I am lost ??

My key is named VID_044F&PID_B304 , but what do have to do exactly.

I exported the key to my harddrive and named it joystick.reg.

Could you please explain better what to do with the keys and all.

Thnx

Death-Speak

I'm using a modded XBox to USB dongle and it does the same thing. If I remember, the right analog stick should control the camera, but I can't get it to work either.

hi all,

first sorry i left two keys in the example initially which could mislead some - you need to replace all the key ID's in the registry lines i posted by your device id

Wicked: don't export the key, does the howto say to export the key? i think it mentions to copy the ID value (click rename on the key tree, copy the value and hit esc) (is just for pasting the value back to the new reg key you make in next steps)

PRXS: i don't take credit for inventing it, i found the registry values in other posts here, can't remember the user name, but there is BIG THANKS to him. Only just swapping the key values didn't work completely, my contribution to solution is to get rid of the thrustmapper and recalibrate the gamepad, and also making this step by step wink.gif also your problem - did you replace both keys with the new ID's? you can try to do the registry edit manually:

open regedit, browse through key structure to the

"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contr ol\MediaProperties\PrivateProperties\Joystick\OEM\"

find your controller key tree there (my dual analog 3 is VID_044F&PID_B311) , and

1. "add key" - name it Axes

2. go to Axers key, again - "add key" - 0, 1, 2, 5 (four new keys)

3. in each key, make new "string value" and then double click it and have it say "X Axis" for 0, "Y Axis" for 1, "Right X Axis" for 2 and "Right Y Axis" for 5 (numbers are keys you just created)

4. in each key (1-5) create new binary value, then double click it, and enter

for 0 - 00 00 00 00 01 00 30 00

for 1 - 00 00 00 00 01 00 31 00

for 2 - 00 00 00 00 01 00 35 00

for 5 - 00 00 00 00 01 00 36 00

is the same thig the reg key should do...

ALSO EVERYONE GETTING THIS NOT HELP - i just realised, my dual analog 3 (said on box and body) is registered as "dual analog 4!!!" might be problem for some of you - check the control panel/gaming devices what does the name say in the controllers list, and then of course apply that to my guide here (seek what device windows thinks you have, not what's on box smile.gif ).

For those who are looking to buy a brand new pc gamepad, the Logitech Rumblepad II works great (right analog stick controls camera).

The only thing I'm trying to figure out is how to use the right analog stick for accelerating and deaccerating like using the triggers on the xbox version (I hate to drive pushing a button... tounge.gif )

Peace.

Can't understand why i can't get the regedit ting to work for my controller.

I have followd the instructions, but my right stick is still a glider..

I'm using JoyToKey now, that works to, but this regedit is nicer..

Using Rockfire USB - PSX adapter die.gif

4. in each key (1-5) create new binary value, then double click it, and enter

for 0 - 00 00 00 00 01 00 30 00

for 1 - 00 00 00 00 01 00 31 00

for 2 - 00 00 00 00 01 00 35 00

for 5 - 00 00 00 00 01 00 36 00

Those who didn't get this to work: create a new binary value, name it Attributes, and then enter these values.
