pyXL
Installed fine, but it won't start. It keeps saying "Unable to authenticate disc within time limit"! WHAT DOES THAT MEAN!? Please help.
TAcTcOM
Idem. Fine installation, then restarted Windows for security. But the game won't start: after cliking PLAY, black screen then desktop again. No error messages, nothing. The DVD rolls just for some seconds. Directx OK. The game is original, and I've tryed the DVD recorder too, but the problem remains. This computer is well tested: never had a problem...

Bubba Fat
Hey. Yeah, I have the same damn problem. I called up Rockstar support and they eventually told me to download the latest firmware for my dvd drive. I did that and I got the game to start once. After that, I kept getting the same message I did before. So, I ordered a newer, faster dvd drive. So, first find out what dvd drive you've got and who makes it. Then, go to that company's website and download the latest firmware for your dvd drive. Follow the instructions and try starting up the game a couple more times. If that doesn't work, call the Rockstar support. The phone number is at the end of the readme file that came with the game. When I get my new dvd drive, I'll try it out and let you know if it works or not.

Bubba Fat
Yeah, it didn't work for me either. I did find something that works though. I found this website in a different post. http://gameburnworld.com/gp/gamefixes Go to the Grand Theft Auto San Andreas part and download the dvd/exe all fixing thing. My game started up right away after that. Now I just have to fix the million other bugs and glitches that everyone else is having. Oh, what fun that will be. Rockstar should have put a warning on the box saying, "Some assembly required."
TAcTcOM
Don't work for me The game still don't start! Even with the nocd fix! I've tryed with another identical PC, but equipped with a GeForce 5900 XT, and the problem is the same: don't start. In that PC there's another type of DVDR, a PIONEER DVDRW DVR-108 with NO RESULTS. What the hell have they done with this game??? -------------------- UPDATE: FOUND SOLUTION The problem was WINDOWSBLINDS (skin program for windows xp): unloaded WB and the game started!!! --------------------- Edited June 12, 2005 by TAcTcOM
Bubba Fat
What and where is "Windows Blinds"?
TAcTcOM
http://www.stardock.com/products/windowblinds/ A program to change visual style of Windows XP. I have version 4.2 and the game start only if I unload it. Not a big problem, if you know it.
