serpent46
Hi Lolita, >>8. hit gta_sa.exe and it wont eve'n start The game seems to remember the old gfx setup... Here is what I did: Rename the folder "c:\documents and setting\YOURNAME\own files\GTA San Andreas User Files" (simple append an underscare at the folder name) The actual name of this path may be wrong, I have german XP and don't remember the correct english path. After you have renamed the folder start the game. The game will recognize that the settings are missing and will recreated the folder and suitable settings for your new gfx drivers ;-) Now quit the game. All you have to do now is copy back your saved games. I copied the whole renamed folder conted EXCEPT the "gta_sa.set" back into the original location. Hope this helps. ArtVandelay
Same problem here (with a Radeon 8500). I fixed it setting at low the detail level, it doesn't look great, but at least there is no more "invisible people"... I hope they make a patch soon, it doesn't work fine with ATI cards/drivers, I read a lot of people complaining about that...

theslamforevryone
hi, im still having problems. my problem is alittle different though. my game crashes to the desktop when i click "New Game". i have followed "stnger" way of doing it, with the 4.9 version and i deleted that gta_sa.set, but it still crashes after i click New Game. i then get the infamous error that asks if you want to send the error report to microsoft. in the settings on the game, no matter what i do NOTHING in the game works. if you could PLEASE help that would be faboulus. Here are my specs: 120 GB HDD AMD Athlon XP 2800 (2.08) 512 MB Ram ATI Radeon 9200 (128 MB) thanks again.
M14a-Mclaren
I also got this problem which i think is ati related, the card seems to always crash, the game is fine but the game alt-tabs out and I get this message saying your ati device has crashed bla bla and gives me the option of reporting the error to ati or not, i usually always report it then just open up the game, its a really weird problem, which also happened with vice city but no other game that ive got. I have latest drivers (5.6)

Thats what i'm getting too, its hell annoying, it would be good if it could be fixed, appears to be a ATI problem but since its happened to me since vice city they probably aint gonna fix it. ohpsrlvpzbpat
Sorry for replying with a bugmenot account (i hate sign ins).... There is a far simpler way to have everything work in the game (yes peds too). -Install any driver you like -If the driver has a builtin tool to change Pixel Shader Overide and Vertex shader overide (Omega and Zerop0id have it) -then change Pixel shader version and Vertex shader version to 1.0 (you can always change it back later) -If the driver hasn't a builtin tool to change Pixel Shader and Vertex shader version then install RadLinker and change Pixel shader version and Vertex shader version to 1.0 (you can change it back later). I have tested it with Omega driver 2653 and Zerop0id driver 5.6 Both Pixel and Vertex shader versions must be set to 1.0 in order for the peds to be correct. kanenas
illegitimate_fire
Hi I thought I would post this here because it seems rather relevant. I am having huge issues where SA will run for about five minutes of very normal gameplay (riding to CJ's house etc) before it suddenly freezes, goes black and then comes up scrambled. Leaving me to reboot my system and now I cant play SA because this is all it does. I have tried installing the 4.9 drivers which didnt work then I tried installing the modded 5.6 drivers which also didnt work. Here are my stats. HELP!!! Processor: AMD Athalon 64 Processor 3200+ Memory: 1024MB RAM DirectX 9.0c OS: Microsoft Windows XP Professioanl (SP2) Display: Radeon 9600 Pro 256mb\ Display Mode 1280x1024 (32 bit color) (figured this might be too high so dumbed it down to 800x600 to no avail) Integrated sound: Realtek AC97 Audio

TheMcNasty
WORKING SYSTEM I have a laptop running a 32Mb flavor of the 9000 mobility and it is running perfectly with a 1.8Ghz and 500Mb ram. Step one, forget official drivers for laptops. They are always behind the stand alone cards because the manufac has to help make them. Step two, get omega drivers www.omegadrivers.net which seem to be immune to this problem and are generally considered the best ATI drivers invented by man. Some people report a problem with ATI's Hydra program so ditch that too (it's lame anyway)

Leaving me to reboot my system But do you really need to reboot? If you GPU recover to 'on' in the control panel and wait for a short while after the freeze does the game not come back to you? It's still irritating, but at least you don't have to restart the whole thing.
