audio / sound problem solutions

Ok folks, I just got the sound working finally. For me it was cutting out every time it rained and then would not return. I tried all solutions from here, firstly I was finding that the dxdiag thing was ok when it rained but the cut-scenes the spoken dialogue kept repeating. I decided to try a combination of 3 solutions that I read about on this forum and played around a bit. Now it works!

This is what I did:

Swap out your old eax.dll for the 3.006 version (older version didnt work for me).

I can't find the link I got it from so I have uploaded it here (mirrorz plz):

Click it fool!

Drop your dxdiag 'Acceleration level' to 'Basic':

Start --> Run --> Type in the word dxdiag and hit enter --> sound tab --> change slider to 'basic acceleration'.

Change your speaker setup:

control panel --> sounds and audio --> volume tab --> 'speaker settings' advanced button --> choose 'quadrophonic speakers' in the drop-down.

I hope this works for you guys, it's a frustrating bug but this game is awesome!

To all who posted solutions, thanks and much kudos

Good luck
