bishman82
i got SA up and running the other day without any major problems exept the speeds and framerate i was getting were pretty poor even on 800x600 i messed about with all the settings but had to leave them on pretty low just to get the game playable. system i used was Athalon 3000, 512 corsair ram and a geforce 6600. didnt give it much thought until i got to the redneck village and noticed the road ahead of me was black!! it looked as though the road was meant to be shaded as it got further away from you but instead it was just black until you were really close to it. i tried changing every setting but nothing would sort it about an hour later i noticed the game was running much more smoothly so i turned the resolution up as well as graphics quality and it still ran fine got it up to 1200x**** resolution but the next time i tried to start the game it wouldnt start! i renamed the config file in my documents to something else, re-started the game and put in my settings all over again and everything is running perfectly! 45+fps the roads look shaded properly not a glitch whatsoever. i've tried everything to work out what was making the roads to be displayed black but nothing will cause it any more. has anyone else had anything wierd happen like this? i'm intrested to know what was making that happen

bishman82
i've just read on another forum that some other guy noticed a big performance jump after playing for about 3 hours, it's good in a way i suppose, but i don't like not knowing what is wrong with a game i thought i knew most things when it comes to getting games running well, but this one has me confused

bishman82
you could always try renaming the config settings (something.set) in my documents/san andreas to see if that changes anything but i remember the game running smoother before i did that. and i wasnt changing the settings or anything - it did it by itself

Zackzr
Wow, I thought it was just me. The same exact thing happens to me. After a few hours it will slow down, I used to restart the computer but last night I just kept playing even though it was getting slower, then I noticed it sped up and seemed to fix itself and run fast. Very odd, I don't understand this one at all.
