PC GTA: SA Audio installation problem

I was reading some of the other posts regarding SA problems, but I didn't see anything that addressed the same situation that I have, so I'll create this new topic. Sorry if this is a repost.

 

I just bought SA today from EB (so yes, it's a legal copy). The version of the game is DVD. My computer can handle the game b/c I just got it last December.

 

I put the CD in and it starts installing. Half way into the install, I get this message:

 

Feature: GTA: SA Game Data

Component: Audio

File: D:\data3.cab

Error: Incorrect function

 

I tried to install it a second time, with the same result.

 

My soundblaster card is soundblaster live 24-bit.

 

I have never experienced any sound problems with any other games that I have installed on this computer and that includes GTA: Vice City (which is also a legal, store bought game).

 

Anybody think this is a defective CD and I have to exchange it for a new one?

either your CD is:

 

1) defective

2) scratched/dirty

 

check to see if it's dirty/scratched first, if it's not then it's probaly defective and in that case, you could call R* and they'll hopefully tell you whats up.

Ok...I'm actually going to near the mall where I bought the game tomorrow, so I'll go by and exchange it for a new game.
