osakajoe
Hi I have AA set on all the time within my Graphics Card(Radeon 9800 Pro) so is there any point setting it to on within the game? Does it make a difference? Thanx
Zach
It depends on the game and its graphics engine. I won't get into all the technical issues. In general, if a game has a specific setting for AA or AF, you should use it and not your global driver. For the GTA engine, though, it probably doesn't matter. noVa
hmm what i dont get is my card goes up to 8x AA SA only goes up to 3x surely this means there will be conflicts between te card and the game...
Konoko45
Actually, you can't really set AA 3x... It's just a standardized level system, where 1 = 2x, 2= 4x, and 3 = 6x/8x (depending on the type of card you use)
Zach
Those aren't direct one-to-one mappings. Case in point, there's no such thing as 1x or even 3x AA. As reasonably proposed in other threads, it probably maps out like this: 1 = 2X AA 2 = 4X AA 3 = 6X (or 8X) AA (depending on your card) As for the manual saying there is six settings, that is probably just a typo or whatnot. (Edit: Heh.. Konoko45 beat me to it. )
MegaVovaN
Hey, I have 6800GT (OCed beyond ULTRA speeds) AGP, and if I disable AA/AF in global driver, and set to 3 in-game, game looks ok. But if I set global driver to AA 8xS and AF 16x, and leave 3x in-game, game looks FANTASTIC! Too bad that screens look like there is no AA/AF applied to them Anyone knows how to fix this (to make screens show all the power of my vid card)?
