You honestly can't compare any of the others to GTA3. As the original, it has the hours of endless playback that you can't get out of San Andreas or Vice City.

San Andreas came close, but my vote had to go to Vice City.

 

The atmosphere of Vice City just blew me away. I love the '80s feel.

Actually, I don't like the atmosphere of Vice much at all, mainly because it was set in the 80's (I don't like games that aren't modern, with a few expections, like medieval games or mafia based games). Also the map was too flat, which was annoying, but the good thing about Vice is it had a good storyline. I liked the whole big city feel of GTA:III, it just gave me a unexplainable feeling, like I was really in the game. I also liked the strong storyline, but my vote went for SA, because of the different climates like desert, countyside and it had a mountain. It was just a big improvement over VC. The only thing I like about the original GTA is that it had all of the maps in one game.

 

I think that GTA:III's feel and story, with SA's features, would make a good GTA game.

Nothing compares to the first time I played GTA3 on PS2. Nothing.

I voted SA, but GTA3 and Vice both came very close.

 

Not sure if I preffered Tommy or Claude's story, but CJ's was sh*te, but due to all the extras, gameplay, and size of the map I vote SA.

Close call, GTA1 was the original and I found it to be great when I first played it, GTA3 was what brought us the 3D and a new type of gameplay, Vice City had great music and helicopters, San Andreas had a huge map and a lot more features, but in the end I voted GTA3, I think it has the most nostalgic value too.

It just had to be San Andreas - there's so much to do and the environment's massive, but GTAIII came very close and VC even closer.

GTA3 for sure. It was the first of the series to be in 3D, and was f*cking amazing. Had the best location by far, very interesting; but not overly big so that you could easily know where everything was. The storyline wasn't the greatest, especially towards the end of the game, but the first half of the game's story was awesome. The radio was great, the cars, everything. The main character not talking also gave it a lot of mystery which made it great also.

Vice City was BY FAR the best one in the series. If you played and finished Vice City you'll understand that the story, graphics, camera movements, stupid missions, abysmal bike-handling, and even more all suck terribly bad in San Andreas, and last but not least the (graphical) glitches are all over the place.

 

San Andreas is the worst console-port on PC.

 

Huge Maps don't make great games, Vice City was just perfect.

I voted for GTA3, simply because it was such a mind-blowing new concept when it came on the scene, nobody had really seen a game of this magnitude before. So for sheer impact value, GTA3.

VC & SA have been improvements and additions to such a genre (plus many pretenders to the throne), but there is only one daddy

I loved GTA and GTA2. I also loved GTA3 and GTA:VC.

 

San Andreas didn't quite cut it for me. I reckon it'll gain my respect in the long run, but it just came around at a time where I was going off games, so it didn't get much play.

 

Anyway, my vote will have to go to either GTA3 or GTAVC. I can't explain the feeling I had when I first controlled some random dude in an orange suit, driving recklessly to my hideout for the first time, all in 3D. But Vice City seemed to capture the time period so much. Plus, it has the greatest videogame soundtrack I have ever seen. I enjoyed both immensely, and it's a tough decision, but I'd have to go for Grand Theft Auto 3. It just seems more fitting to go with the original 3D game. A true gaming masterpeice. Rockstar rock the f*ck out.

 

So yeah, GTA3.

Voted for SA. Best installment of GTA Rockstar has put out so far (IMO).

I loved the gameplay.the story missions, the Off-Story Missions, the music, basically SA did a big step from Vice City and all the other past GTA games.

 

P.S. I can't believe GTA 3 is up right now by 3 votes.

I like Vice City best. The first thing I came to think was the music. I mean now I like 80s music. It's because of Vice. And my "dream" is to go to Miami. Or at least see how there is. Are there really so many old people?

 

But the real reason I like Vice is, this was the game I got to play the most. I didn't know about GTA3 when it came out. And only played it on PS2, when Vice City was released and realized how many things should be add to GTA3. I recently installed GTA3, but the graphics weren't so god compared to Vice City. So I didn't want to play it really much. I like to play GTA:LC more. Just for the couple of improvments.

 

I haven't played San Andreas that much to say I like it. But I definetly didn't like PS2 version. Music is good, as much that I have listend to it, but not better than Vice.

PC version is definetly better than previous titles. But I'll see when I get to play that.

 

Top Down GTA's were great and fun at their time and even after GTA3. My friend messed with car speed and handling. I should go and find some mods to install on GTA2. Funny how much graphics improved from GTA1 to GTA2.

 

So long story short. I like Vice City best. GTA3 is good. I like the all NY theme. Haven't played San Andreas that much and Top Down GTA's are good nostalgic ones.

GTAIII-I loved the city layout, it makes the city look alot bigger than it really is. & who doesent love the M-16, I liked the plaines thet flew around too. & the skyscrapers everywhere!

 

GTA VC-I liked how people get hit & the driver freaks out. & the bright colors, I used to have a problem with flies landing on the screen. & the water/land/air traffic, you were never really alone. I also liked the sunken ships/subs/bodies/boats.

 

GTA SA-I loved all the new vehicles & there are lots more ped models than in the other games. & a big map, but its to dark alot of the time, & I miss the airliners that where replaced by blinking lights.

I like GTA3 ALOT though, storyline is great, atmosphere and well, everything...

Just so, awesome. The modern, city feel. Everything being close together, unlike Vice and SA which seemed spread out to me. The dark feel of III, the awesome music, everything basically. I don't like SA too well. Too glitchy and dirty (by the I mean not clear gfx wise)
