I voted for Vice City, it stayed true to the mafia feel of the game and was heavily based on one of my favourite movies. Scarface. The whole 80's theme, the legendary songs, the map was easy to find your way around. San Andreas had great gameplay, but I'm not a fan of the ganster theme.

Because SA is a sum of all possibilities ever done or meant to be done in GTA series (I didn't play GTA2 and LCS BTW)... And high quality of course!

i loved all of them since the start but id have to say gta3 because it started all the 3d and it has a darker theme and you get to kill catalina (hated her in san andreas)

Also the cars and graphics in GTA VC are the best. I really hate the badlands and all the highways in-between cities in SA.

Vice City. No question. It wasn't as big as San An and there wasn't as much that you could do in it, but come on, Tommy Vercetti versus Carl Johnson? Get real! That's like saying Tony Montana versus 50 Cent. Fitty can go f*ck himself in that contest (and just in general)! And the 80s setting was better. The soundtrack was the best there has been. The talk radio was the most entertaining. The story was better. The supporting characters were immense! Ray Liotta voicing the main character was incredible. And that mission where you had to ride the dirt bike across the roofs to put that massive picture of Candy Suxxx's tits on the side of the building was genius! The room in the mansion that looked liek Tony Montana's office. That sh*tty little apartment that was the same as the chainsaw scene from Scarface. The fact that most of the game, from the clothes and music to the missions and characters, was inspired by Scarface! San An was great fun to play but when I was finished I realised that I had missed something from that which had been a major part of Vice City. It just didn't feel like I was playing out an excellent gangster movie anymore. Thats why we all love GTA isn't it? Because we get to go around acting like our big screen heroes from Al Pacino's Tony Montana to Ray Liotta's Henry Hill. That was the point of Vice City. It still don't really know what the point of San Andreas was...

It is GTA San Andreas for me. My favourite gta game. It was a tie when I first played Vice City and San Andreas for the first time. But, the new features of San Andreas are cool. I dont care about the graphics, the hood, and countryside/desert, CJ(main character). It's which one I had the most fun with- that's San Andreas. But, I can say Vice City is one of my favorites too-after san andreas. The Sunset, the babes, sountrack and storyline are amazing in Vice City. But, I still prefer San Andreas

Voted GTA 2 because that's the game that got me hooked on GTA

VC coming in second followed by liberty city then SA.

GTA Vice City because that has perfect map not to big or to small. The storylines are magneficant, and San Andreas is too big for me and way to ghetto. Plus The vice city ps2 version you had to earn your way up to the best not cheat by putting in a money cheat. To me Vice city made gta so popular.

I had to vote for San An. Bigger map, better feel to the game, and I liked the storyline a lot. Vice City was close with the atmosphere, but that huge map in San An was freakin' awesome

san andreas without a doubt. the other games look weak in comparison - in terms of scope, landscape, interactivity and customisation.

 

 

however, if it had beeen a question of best atmosphere, my vote would have been for GTA3.
