Here it is the poll of polls, which is the best GTA in your opinion? Once you have voted, post and say why, whether it is because you just like the music, the story or even if you don't like any other.

Voted for San Andreas because the map is so much bigger and I like the Los Angeles environment. Good enough reason?

San Andreas came close, but my vote had to go to Vice City.

 

The atmosphere of Vice City just blew me away. I love the '80s feel.

I have to say San Andreas is my favorite, although it was close with GTA3. but SA has a huge map with lots of extra features and who knows maybe there is still some things hidden in it.

Vice City had a wonderul atmosphere and really made a great change from GTA III. I think San Andreas has a more natural effect though.

Yeah, i agree, VC had a great feel to it, but i enjoyed SA more. My vote goes to SA, and if that hadnt been there, it would've been GTAIII. SA just has the big map, and all the gameplay features.

original GTA. GTA2 had strange graphics, and gtalondon looked like crap with all the sharp colours.

 

the newer 3D ones are completely different games, i don't think of them as highly as the original ones.

I voted for Vice City because I like all the bright colors, not all the dark bold colors in SA, I also love the location and time.

I voted San Andreas, Just liked what they put into it, the extra's were cool, taking a plane to a different City, the shear size of the game is pretty amazing.I also think the story line is better in SA than the others.

Plus SA for me is much harder than the others, I never struggled this much on Vice City, so Value was excellent.

GTA3, batches. Claude's storyline walks all over CJ and Tommy's. Tommy's story comes in second though. San Andreas was great in terms of gameplay, length and size, but it's story was a little weak. Boring too. I finished GTA3 a few days ago and I'd love to see where they go with the story from there.

Only I think San Andrea stright up sucked. I'd put it third to last, with only london and 2 behind it. It'll win because all of the moron's who love to be gansta's. Pfft.

Voted SA....I just liked SA alot for some reason. I love how realisitic it got and how you can get tatoos, get buff or really fat and where a green pimp suit and walk around with a pimp cane. Also the weapons....dual sawnoff shotties or dual pistols is kick ass, but I do wish they kept around the Colt Python from VC though. Theres a sh*t load to do in SA too, I havent even thought of 100% on that game, and its been out for awhile now.

I enjoy SA immensely, but VC was more a trip down memory lane for me. The music, the fashion ("Dear God I can't believe I actually wore something like that!") & the general atmosphere.

I'd have to say that San Andreas was the best GTA due to the very realistic enviroment, large map, many vehicles etc.

Although GTA2 probably is my favorite classic, it's honestly hard to not think about the countless hours of work that have gone into making San Andreas possible and all of the great details and features they were able to make in the game. SA got my vote for those reasons.

I voted Grand Theft Auto 3. Not because of all the pretty bells and whistles, but because I really loved Liberty City. It probably has everything to do with nostalgia and fond memories.

I voted GTAIII. I just love it. It is so dark and gritty. It feels like you are completely f*cked through the whole game. You get constantly thrown around with no clear results.

 

Vice City is to cheerful. The colors hurt your eyes. And San An, is huge but it also lacks what Vice and III have. I would rank them III, Vice, GTA, San An. I do love San An but not as much as III. III really opened up the world of GTA too me again. I played the originals, but they didn't fully capture me. III did.

I voted GTA 3 because it was a dawn of a new era. The first time I played it, it blew me away, the graphics, the freedom. It was amazing.

I'll never forget my first ride with 8 ball. The story, characters, gangs, missions, and the perfect setting of Liberty City makes it the best.

Much the same reasons as the others with GTA3.

 

When I first played it, it was just awesome. The feel, the look, the story. As the others said it was gritty and really did give you this feeling of being proper f*cked. Like at any moment in the storyline you'd be f*cked right over.

People who played VC or SA first just don't understand and get too caught up in size and features.

I voted for San Andreas.

I've only played GTA:III, GTA:VC, and GTA:SA. (I played a bit of one of the top down versions, but I don't remember which as I didn't play enough to get into it.)

 

San Andreas got my vote due somewhat to the size, but mostly the different types of areas that they filled all that room with. All three of the cities are good, but the desert, and most especially the badlands kick ass. I had been waiting for some good "driving on dirt roads through the woods" type chases for a while. In addition, all the different vehicles (Planes and helicopters in particular.) made it better too. Even little things like finally being able to swim (Or not just drowning from merely touching the water to be more specific.) mods and paint jobs, the parachute, playing pool, craps, poker, blackjack, etc. Although I could have lived without the whole eating, and building muscle bullsh!t.

 

Admittedly though, III, and VC both had much better atmospheres. I found the entire return to the 80's in VC a bit comical, and that added to it's appeal. And even though III was tiny compared to SA the feel of the cities in III were the best. In my opinion they have yet to make a city that can equal portland.

 

For me it would go:

1. GTA:SA

2. GTA:III

3. GTA:VC

III. I live for and in Liberty city. I was a 2 baby but III, as said before, was the dawn of a whole new era in gaming for everyone. Even though the graphics are better in San An...the effect that III has on you is just amazing. Where San An has graphics, III has images. The images get hard coded into your mind and, at least for me, still have never left me. If someone asked, I could easily draw a map, with the sights and secrets in it, to Liberty City, from the secret package behind the hospital in Shoreside Vale to the raining fish from the mafia missions. The betrayal and the lies really gives you a feeling of city life. Then at the end you get a supreme feeling of accomplishment when at the end you finally hear Maria FINALLY STOP TALKING with that glorious single shot...if they re made it...expanded...as big as san an with real time shading...bikes...the whole shebang and more, but not changing the feeling...I think I would just have a heart attack and die on the spot.

edit:^^ i doubt the noobs of the san an forum even read the headlines of the topics...well see...but for now III is ruling...girrr...ive been proven...we lost with one vote...and back on top...by one again...lets see...

If GTA3 came out (i.e. graphics, interactivity, map size) instead of SA, I would have voted for it. Sadly, the benefits in SA outweigh the greatness of 3.

III has a real shot, it's almost as good as SA even without the size, and all the little extras.

 

Besides, most of the SA members can't even find the Announcements forum. The staff has cleverly hidden it in plain sight at the top of the page, much like the way they did with the link to the S.A.M. Pin this and most of the SA crowd will have no chance of seeing it.
