frailstar
Hi, I've never played a computer game. I'm a total newby. Vice City is my first computer game. I installed the game and it worked. I started it up and played around with the settings of the game, changing the screen resolution to 1600 X 1200 to fit my screen. This caused the game to crash and go back to windows. After that I could not get back in the game. I click on the desktop icon to play, the screen goes black for a few seconds and then it goes back to windows. I have even tried reinstallation. It's still doing the same thing. Why is it doing this? I'm using: Monitor: Samsung, Syncmaster 213T Computer: Sony Vaio RAM: 2 GB Graphics Card: ATI Raedon X300
Justin
I assume you don't have any mods installed as you say you are a complete newby at computers. However, if you do have any mods installed, remove them immediately. Have a look at Take2 Games' tech support. I wrote a short explanation for newbies like yourself on how to navigate to the Vice City support section here. Also, read the Pinned Bug List. Re-installing is always a good thing to do if you've messed something up, but you said you already did that.
frailstar
I'm a newbie at video games, not computers. What's a mod?
Justin
I'm a newbie at video games, not computers. What's a mod? Sorry, my mistake. A mod is a modification. It is an alteration of the original game files, to enhance or change your gaming experience. But some mods are badly coded, so they can cause faults in the game. So if you encounter problems after you've installed a mod, chances are it's the thing causing the problem.

Are you looking for help, or simply stating that you use mods? If the latter, please refrain from spamming in future. If you're looking for help, post a topic in the Troubleshooting Forum, and we'll see what we can do.
Wolf68k
1. Go to your My Documents folder 2. Find GTA Vice City User Files folder and look inside it 3. Find gta_vc.set and delete 4. Start up VC again and see if it works now
