I registered for the sole purpose of saying that this is really a great job you're doing with this mod. It's a very creative and original way to take the game and I hope you keep up the good work.

 

Other than that, my only comment is that I hope you don't stop updating it. Could you imagine if the mod could take the cel-shaded look all the way to the level where the cars and characters looked like the ones in the load screens? (I hope fragger doesn't mind, but I'll link his signature to show what I mean):

Btw. that is comic-style not cartoon-style.

actually it's called cell-shading. so your wrong.

 

@grefox: everything does look good. i'm not a fan of cell-shaded characters, but everything else looks amazing. but for future reference, you're not supose to post pics that big please link them next time, it's a common cortousy (sp?) for those of us who run at lower screen resolutions and that arn't running DSL or higher. i'm on DSL and running at 1280x1024 and you made me have to side scroll.

 

either do one of the following:

 

1) link your pictures

2) make them a smaller size 800x600 or lower.

Neo, this has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with cell effect, trust. The cartoon textures used to enhance the cell shading working from shaders and light elements blah blah, in short not what you're tracking onto, seems to have ppl captivated. I wouldn't like to comment but for the "your [sic] wrong" part, it kinda asked for it tounge.gif The actual effect is not possible under normal SA setup. You can only fake it with texture and possibly really f*ck up the lights a la recent vice mods.

i stand corrected. and yes your right it is impossible to have true cell-shading. but he is in a sence faking it. so in a sence it is somewhat still cell-shading though i understand what your saying.

And now another new trailer.

This one is for the vicecity version.

 

The video is 5 minutes long and shows my work from 1/5 years ago.

You can see what ive learned in a year time if you saw the san andreas version.

This was the begin of my celshaded looking textures for gta vicecity.

 

As you can see i did't fix the peds and stuff.

Right now im editing the san andreas version.

When that version is finished i see if i finish the vice city version and maby later an gta 3 version ( wich i attempted before )

 

their 2 or 3 double scenes in the trailer ( yep thats to bad )

But i already finished the trailer before i saw that.

This looks more like a "flat textures" mod than cell-shading, since things don't have an outline. I'm guessing you used solid colors and black lines to achieve that effect.

If the game's textures were larger, it would look decent, but as it is, it looks like your texture were done in paint. I appreciate the effort and time you're dedicating to this, but it's not cell-shading.

Keep it up, though, since a lot of people seem to enjoy the novelty, but try to be more subtle with the outlining. I'd enlarge the texures first, outline them and then shrink them back to their original size. That way the lines won't be so thick and pixelated. smile.gif

i think the lines n stuff look pixelated because he doesnt have antialiasing on. and wow kool mod. cant wait to try it out.

Thanks for teh replies, right now skinnig the peds and playermodels, and it goes really nice.

So when i have moere skins inll post new screens of them.

 

Now im working on some loading screens.

ill post some screens of it as soon as possible..

Hello everyone

 

Here is a Small update.

Ive decided to draw my own loading screens.

I was sitting behind my table and made some sketches.

 

then i thought wait a minute, ill scan them and edit them so that they look cartoonish.

 

Here is an example of how the loading screens would look like.

The persons on the pic are Salvatoren Leone and Kent Paul in my own style.

the only things that look a little weird is when the roads cross they don't fit together to much...

& Cv's tattos & Cj's shirt look a little "super mario" or "8bit"...

Not to important things though.

...

It looks a bit crap, if you ask me.

Cell shading is done through SHADERS, not TEXTURES.

maareh, je bent nederlands dus dan kunnen we zo ook wel praten. Is het proces iets dat aan andere mensen kan uitbesteed worden ? Ik heb Photoshop en kan er goed mee werken, heb zelfs een tablet, dus misschien kan ik wat helpen ofzo ?

I couldnt find that tut I promised before, and havent seen this topic ina while. Did dude quit or what? I was hoping to see this, definately is an awesome mod.

 

You're right man, this is not cell shading. Neither is that picture in the quote. Cell shading is done using shaders and textures. Cell shading is common to be regarded as "ever seen a game that's 3D but looks just like a cartoon?" So people get that misconception.

 

For anyone who wants to know: This is real cell shading (emphasis on real, this game was made to show off cell shading. They did not want to screw up, believe me:

It's starting to come together. You've come a long way, but you still have a long way to go, skinning pedestrians and if you choose, maps.

 

But as it is now, as a WIP, it's really pretty good looking.

I dont care what your method is...its looking great...I loved xiii ...having a belend between that and gta is awsome..nice job being original.. ignore the flamers there just upset they have no talent other than trying to make others feel crappy like them!

P.S.- As a side bar to your mod i recommend you Add some comic style graphics..like "wham" "bang" and so on

every txd editor i seem to down load doesnt seem to work when i import. txd workshop works but when u try to import it just f*cks wid my pc so bad and txd gold just doesnt seem to work right. devil.gif
