RECRUITING: Pimp My Ride+island San Andreas MOD

Hi there all,

 

Looking at great works of WCC (West Coast Customs (WCC)), i desided to make a mod for it.

San Andreas would be the perfect match.

Vice City is also possible, but it have less "options".

West Coast Customs is a company, owned by the man who's on the front page of the site, who turn cars into very expensive cars.

Some of them are already expensive (a one million Ferarri Enzo project), but in the MTV show "Pimp My Ride" they modify a rolling junkyard into an car which make you stare when it passes by.

 

In this mod that's exactly the idea, and because San Andreas has 200 different vehicles (yes also tuning boats, bikes etc. as far that it is possible) can be modified, i don't we (team) have to worry that there's nothing to do.

 

What i'm looking for is are (talented)vehicle modifiers, scripters and perhaps maybe weapon modifiers.

I also (all in time of course) want to make an island to show the cars, but of course where you can do missions as well, if you know what i'm talking about.

About me:

I'm an 18 (in December 2004) year old guy, who lives in the Neterlands (you'll might see that in the grammer, its not the nose of the salmon(typical Dutch saying?))

I do not have much experiance in moddeling/scripting/rigging, but hey if anybody can point out a good tutorial site (i'm sorry i can not find a tutorial on this forum (or haven't i look good?)), i want to learn it though.

Just (oke an week or two) finished my exams, so have plenty of time (although i have work) to work on it.

It doesn't matter to me witch language you speak, or at least not that you use it inside the mod.

 

I hope to get this project started, in my eyes its an daring, challeging but not impossible mod.

So.... since nobody (Exept Urban Legend who might join)have intrest in this mod, i gonna add some more information to the mod.

What exactly?

- Witch car turned in what

- Skins for CJ, Sweet, Ryder, Big Smoke(,gangs and pedestrians).

- Building replacement

Well, since nobody have showed intress, i doubt if it ever gonna start.

It is to much work for me alone to post al of the cars, so i quit that.

hi there, i wouldnt mind working on this mod, it sound pretty cool, i have various skills to offer:

 

3ds max character, vehicle and enviroment modelling and texturing (i dont know how to skin/bind for use in the game though).

 

character animation using 3ds max and motionbuilder (and learning maya)

 

industry experience (character animator for the last year and a half, done various bits for Rockstar (including GTA SA cutscene work), Acclaim, IOI and Sony

 

Im a character animator by proffession, but i love modelling, i was gonna try a car or two just to see if i could, but if it could help towards a mod with potential then all the better. im pretty busy for the next couple of weeks with a deadline (cant say what im working on til the game's been released), but i can spare a few evenings a week to model, texture an animate for a good cause.

 

one question, what software do you have to use to make the models? i can model a little bit in maya, but 3d max is my preferred package.

It sounds like a cool idea evil twin. sly.gif JK. Are you going to try and build a modding boat house? I see a lot of potential for this mod. It might not be allowed (not sure) but you might get more facetime with this in the mod section. Just a suggestion.

You mean like a boat yard just as in Vice City, only then you can put wings etc. on it.

Sounds like a great idea, but if it's possible i'm not sure.

I agree with you that our MOD will get more attention "in the media" (to say it in a strange way, not that it ever make it in the real media, but i mean in the "GTA media").

I want an original MOD, and since nobody is modding a boat, it will be great (if possible).

And you have a Z in your name. Hey don't worry too much about publicity. Once the filter comes out for Zmod, activity in this section of the forums should pick up.

 

Edit: I was kinda thinking on the boats to add wings, maybe nitro would be an interesting addition. You know, general customizations, most all of it is possible in one way or another except the hydralics and wheels.

You mean general custom. on land vehicles?

Yeah, once this project is finished i think about pulling out such MOD.

But first things first, this MOD have to be finished dozingoff.gifbiggrin.gif .

 

EDIT: I going to make a site (free, of couse) which covers all the things.

I don't have much time today, 'couse I going to battle with a good friend of mine (in games though die.giftounge2.gifrolleyes.gifShifty41s_beerhatsmilie2.gif ).

Do we have a deadline/timescale that we have set ourselves. do we have an outline/plan for this mod, are we replacing/adding a new set of cars? or creating a library of car-mods/parts.

 

...are we going to make a load of new extras for the mod shops (new wheel rims, spoilers bodykits, exhausts etc..) to use on the existing ingame models?

 

Are we going to re-model the cars from scratch to replace the original ingame ones?

 

Can we get access to the ingame car models to bring in to 3dstudio max or similar to edit? i think this could save some time -even if we did it on just a couple of cars, keep most of the interior and rigging, then just change the chasis.

 

 

one thought i had was (this may even already be the plan). We could make our own garage/mod-shop, put it on the map somewhere, maybe even do a showroom for it, and then when you drive one of the normal ingame cars into it you could get offered 3 or 4 custom make-overs for it, from a fairly cheap boy-racer setup to an over the top $200,000 'blinged to the max' customisation.

 

also, does anyone know anything about the lighting FX/shader capabilities of this game? can we do under-car lighting or maybe even chameleon car-paint?

Yes, modelling in 3ds max gives a way to make beautiful modifications (cars, skins and later maybe islands)

Yes, that's exactly the plan, maybe even more custom build (rome wasn't build in  1 day (witch i mean that we can take the time nessary))

Nice, ehh perhaps a low poly (for slower computers) and a high poly (for  faster computers)

Been poly modeling in 3DS Max for about 3 or 4 Months but because of all my school coursework and my exams which i recently finished i havnt had enough time to finish any of my projects so i scrapped them all to focus on one (my supra if you want screens i'll post or provide a link) still trying to get my head around uvw maps and texturing ... and thats about it smile.gif

I would like to help as well, I have no experience yet, but I know the basics of skinning. I would be very motivated to help you guys.

If you know a good tutorial (wich I can't find on the forum), you can let me know.

As with trypio above, i dotn have any real experience with modding, just the odd bit here and there. Ive only modded skin files, and the odd object (billboard, vending machine etc), but eager to learn smile.gif I have a lot of experience with photoshop, so if you need anything, just shout.

lastly, can someone point me in the direction of a tutorial for modelling a car for GTA. i have modelled cars before but not for GTA, im guessing the doors and hood have to be seperate elements, i assume you have to model a damaged version of it too, i was thinking of statring the Eclipse over the weekend, so if anyone knows of such a tutorial then please help, it doesnt matter if its for San Andreas or Vice City as im pretty sure the structures are the same, just a slightly different file format. please include a maximum polycount for low and hi detail versions

The site looks good, well set up, just noticed your cheat screen won't scroll down. Other than that I think everything looks good.

 

Another car suggestion - Fox Body Mustang. The later model fox bodies have a TON of modifications out there, so there would be a lot of ideas for spoilers, ground effects, lights, exhaust, and countless hood designs.

 

They're also pretty simple cars, so I don't think it would be hard for modders to create

I've asked in the car request part, but I think it fits a little better in a mod shop mod because of all the extra body mods for the real car.
