BC rocking it, nice ride dude. turn.gif

Also, question, let's say I changed my battery, but forgot to put the handle down on the battery and closed the hood. Which resulted in a puny dent on the hood. About 0.2 inches wide. How would one go about fixing that?

Also, how do you remove minor scratches? I've accidentally scraped my bro's MB's roof with a coke bottle and he's a little pissed.

Might be able to fix it with a rubber mallet it's just a dent and the metal hasn't be stretched.

You can get some forms of Polish that you simply apply onto the car. There's a good one called "T-Cut", there's a number of different ones you can buy, one for paint resoration etc.

Any decent polish will get it out, meguires, t-cut, poorboys, chemical bros.

etc.

as for the ding, you could try the dry ice ding, or a rubber mallet and a dolly, just make sure you put a cloth over the area first so you don't scuff it too badly.

bc: Why do you have a different colour part of your front wing?

That area was smashed up a bit when I bought the car, so that section was repaired and primered, I just never got around to painting it to match.

What's the point of owning a Swedish convertible if you can't do this in the winter?

My baby

Saved her from an early death by taking her off the previous owner's hands for free cause it wouldn't run (he tried to put a blingy radio in and screwed up the wiring, EASY fix). He also gave it the 1/2 done primer job, (I kinda like the primer look now), a crooked hood scoop (removed), and dozens of other things that I've fixed/removed (including a 2nd, yes a HUGE SECOND tachometer! WTF, it had one!). Most reliable vehicle I know, had it for years now and I've only needed 1 new headlight and some sway-bar endlinks. Runs beautifully but can't decide on a paint job, so I'm sticking with primer grey.

The primer looks horrible! Other than that it looks like a pretty cool car.

If you leave primer on a car without a layer of paint over the top it absorbs ambient moisture and will likely cause all-over pannel rust- even if it doesn't, the paint will probably have difficulty adhering to the primer and flake off everywhere. Spraying immediately after priming is really the only way to avoid flaky paint jobs.

Actually, the last owner was in such a hurry to have it primed up that he didn't sand it down; the original paint (gunmetal grey) is still below. I realize that primer is not as durable as paint (it is actually flaking off in some areas, showing shiny bits lol.gif ) so I'm gonna have to sand it down someday and just paint it with flat paint if I still want the look. Of course, seeing as I'm still undecided as to how to paint it, I think I'll just let it be. Hey, the worst that can happen is the primer all flakes off and leaves me with a shiny paint job tounge2.gif

Are you driving around Italy with that thing? Or do you just have that flag up because you're Italian? Looks like Illinois plates from what I can see...

Sounds like the owner did quite a number on it... but glad it's running good! What kind of engine is in that? 3.1 V6, 5.0 or 5.7 V8??

As for the paint job, sand the f*cker down, prime it and do the flat/matte/satin black job. I love it, personally.

I've got a 3rd gen Camaro myself. It's fun... but it's got the 3.1L V6, no balls. Sucks... I'd like some power. 140hp (probably getting more like 120, if I'm lucky. Needs some engine work for sure) just isn't enough to get it moving good.

I think my car's previous owner did a paint job himself as well, or had a friend do it at least. If he clear coated it, it was a sh*tty coat. It's cracking in a bunch of spots and this past winter really f*cked it up. All the rust spots got noticeably larger and some new spots popped up sad.gif

time for a new car, me thinks.

Close, Missouri. I'd love to take that thing for a drive in Sicily around the farm though, the looks on people's faces would be priceless cool.gif . Engine's a TBI 5.0l, not the peppiest, but with the current exhaust, it at least sounds great. Hopefully it'll be getting a dose of Tuned Port Injection with a dash of Hooker Headers someday. The blue 'Maro in your profile looks sweet, hope the cancer doesn't set in too deep. I just might have to go matte someday. Perhaps matte black with gray race stripes, I dunno.

P.S. Nice pic you found, that just about convinces me, hehe

I thought you'd like it wink.gif

I personally LOVE that look. Nice and mean. Not on every car, but plenty of them for sure.

As for my car... I've got a feeling the rust is just going to spread and spread. I hate the look of bondo on a car, so I'm not about to go around and sand down all the spots and bondo them. Of course, it's better than the car turning all into rust, but I don't plan on having it that long. And it won't decrease the value enough to make it worth the work.

Oh, and I'd love to have even the 5.0 in my car... around 170hp, 255 lb-ft tq is a decent jump over my 140/180.

My v6 sounds nice at idle, but anything over 3K and the sh*tty exhaust piping and muffler just rattle and the engine sounds high pitched. I'm getting the pipe and muffle replaced this weekend so I'm hoping it'll sound better. Sadly, it's due to a "local ordinance/very loud modified muffler" ticket (funny because it's a stock muffle, I've just got no cat and the muffler is rusted out) I'm stuck with getting a standard sh*tty exhaust. I just hope it depends the sound and takes away the tinny, rattle sound it currently has.

With V6 gearing in back it probably would move well, I've got 2.73's in back o' mine. I've got more dreams for the car than wallet though, so it'll probably stay stock till I find another vehicle (hopefully a '79 Chevy LUV 4x4). That's it, you've inspired me! In a month, I hope to have a pic of my new, flat black TA! I've been waiting for an excuse to screw around with my bay-bay

Should I hold you to that??

I'd actually like to see it.

edit:

Well, here's two video's of my Camaro. I took them to compare how my exhaust sounds before and after I have my muffler (and pipe, from where the cat used to be) replaced. Right now it's pretty f*cking loud, tinny and rattly due to rusty old piping and a worn out muffler (and no cat). I should be able to put up a video with the new muffler put on this Saturday.

Sadly due to several factors (time constraints, money, and the fact that I got a ticket for it being too loud) I was stuck with getting a cheap standard muffler. Still catless, but it sounds like sh*t. Not just qiuet, but weak and rattly. I feel like my faux-balls have been cut off.

I haven't posted an update video on how it sounds because of that reason... its just not worth the time to make the video. sad.gif

You so could have got a 2 chamber flowmaster from a junkyard for 11 bucks (they have lifetime warranties, so they're made to last). confused.gif

I wasn't about to go hack a used muffler off a junkyard car, good condition or not.

Of course, I'm stuck with a sh*tty sounding car...

@SMG 1994... cool story bro?

@Pancho the Great, I'm jealous. I like the new Miata's, and the hard top looks great, imo.

Those rims are nice too. Get them icon14.gif

Lots of them have brand new exhaust systems....

I'd rather use a used Flowmaster than a new, sh*tty o.e.m. replacement. tounge.gif

Peter, another US import. Damn you Lithuanians!

It was bought from some German couple. tounge.gif Then half a year later the transmission shat itself.

That explains the warning stickers all over the interior though.

EDIT: Hold on a sec, if it's a US spec Saab then why does it have turn signals on the front fenders? Also, Euro plates fit perfectly on the trunk, US versions usually have small and crappy plates. DOES NOT ADD UP.
