Way to be late. turn.gif

And your golf would definitely look way better debadged.

Captain Picard

I think debadging is bad.

I mean, people are gonna know your car is a base model when they see it debadged. I mean, who'd remove the GTI badge from their Golf GTI? dozingoff.gif

EDIT: Oh, yes. My car. Right. It's a '98 Renault Megané. RN spec (1400 engine, electric sunroof, and er, thats it.)

The fuel cap is missing because I broke it off in the petrol station. Whoops.

Actually, I've seen quite a few real debadged GTIs, and debadging isn't to make the car seem more powerful, it's to make it look cleaner and smoother.

Speaking of clean, nice Megane, I hope you get the cap back on.

Thanks, man. I don't like it half as much as my old car, a Volvo 340, but yeah, she's a nice car.

About the cap. It's a pain in the arse, because the screws holding the cap's hinge on are located inside of the wheel arch, so ten years worth of driving through all weather conditions have rusted the screws to sh*t and put paid to any notion whatsoever of actually being able to remove them and replace the cap.

Nice thinking, Renault. sarcasm.gif

Ohhohohoh are you in for a world of pain. I had a 1998 Megane Sedan, same color and sh*t.

That car was a nightmare. Gasket shat itself. Heater stopped working. Power windows refused to roll up in the cold, which resulted in a semi-humorous story because once I rolled them down in the winter because I was too lazy to clean the snow off myself, however they wouldn't roll back up and it started to snow the moment the window wouldn't roll back up. Add the non-working heater and me cursing the French for decades to come.

Just a heads up.

EDIT: Dude downstairs kindly provided the pics for you to witness the horror. Thanks buddy. turn.gif

EDIT 2: Oh and once a brake pad fell out while I was braking. I sh*t you not. The car was not abused before as well. So yeah, be careful when driving that death trap.

Love it! biggrin.gif

Black-hawk: To be fair, I've had the car for the best part of two years now and the only problem it's ever given me is that it needed a new lead and spark plug.

Otherwise, faultless. It's been well looked after by it's previous two owners and me, so it ought to be.

An old guy on the next street to me also has one, and he's never had much trouble with his.

Are they the same spec in the US?

That does depend on how the car was maintained, by the sound of yours, it probably never had a service before. It must have been abused in some way or form, usually the brake pads don't just fall off when you're driving. Either they haven't been fitted properly (i.e. poor servicing or no service at all maybe)?

Well it was actually serviced properly from the notes in the service reports that car had. I mean when my Mom drove it, the thing purred. When I was driving it something awful would always happen. Damn thing probably hated my for being super-awesome or something.

Well I payed 90 bucks for a single JEEP badge, straight from the dealer. Total rip off, but I couldn't find an alternative. So if you're willing to drop some cash, go to your nearest dealer.

Come to America. You can literally find them laying on the ground.

@Ryuclan - Check a junkyard. Usually plenty of Chyrslers to nab stuff off of.

Yeah that is true. You can find badges pretty much anywhere just lying on the ground. Also you think I could make away with the badge without paying for it haha?

Although I'm too lazy to go do it for you (in which this statement is some what obsolete), there are plenty of forumers in the US who probably wouldn't mind running by a local junk hard and grabbing one off a car for you. It'd probably cost a whole $5, then like $15 to ship. And if you threw in a little cash for their time you're still saving like $60.

A badge for a car wouldn't be that much of importance to me... no way I'd spend $90 on it.

I might pull a Bart Simpson of the prices are too high at the local car graveyard.

Yeah but Jeeps are equivalent to MB's here. Hell, the same dealership sells JEEPS and MB's at near exact prices. Which totally sucks. A 2009 Grand Cherokee costs 85k$. That's the base model. So yeah. I'd immigrate to the US just for your crappy cars. tounge.gif Providing that the recession doesn't f*ck things up that badly. turn.gif

I mean seriously. 85k$, when Jeep's US web-site claims that they start from ~38k$. Their localized version however has insane prices.
