I'm a team lead for a cybersecurity company, no idea what GN does. I also can't speak for Brazilian prices but second-hand A45s aren't that expensive here in the UK.

I bought an M140i instead.

Do turn signals come standard?

Joking. That's pretty cool job, long as you enjoy it. Girlfriend has been bugging me that I should apply to graphic design jobs because I like doing it but, I don't want to.

Yeah, but the special version of the radar guided cruise control with tailgating mode was an option I didn't pick ;)

Yeah europe is a dream place to be if you want a bmw or a benz. Parts everywhere.

Owning a mercedes like that guy in Brazil you have to be either a politician a drug dealer musician a good soccer player or born in a very rich family who already did all the con work before. No offense to the owner but Brazil is a split society 2% have 96% of all the riches the country has. The other 98% gamble and hustle for the 4%.

The newest car I ever bought cash was a 1998.

Yep, Europe is fine for now, but all these eco norms and the electro hype that's starting to take off really worry me. I mean, instant torque is lovely but I don't want ICE and manual transmission to go. 🙁
Volkswagen seems to be really stepping on it in that direction with all the ID. rumble. I mean yeah perhaps electro is the next thing, but does that mean you have to completely give up on your current identity and design language? The ID.3 and ID.4 look like those illustrations of future cars from school workbooks, or what children imagine future cars to look like - bland, minimalistic, soulless, boring. They're taking it way too far with minimalistic approach in the interior with ID.3 only having seats, a steering wheel and two tablets that are supposed to replace the dashboard, not to mention the awful build quality and janky plastics. Incentives and power aside, do people really like these things? I wouldn't want to live in a world where such atrocity is considered a normal car, compared to what we consider a normal car now.

People don’t like these cars, nobody likes cars anymore. The car has become an appliance just like a phone and when it breaks you just buy a new one.

Welcome to the future. It sucks.

Oh yeah I forgot to mention I'm El Chapo's grandson that's why I can afford a MB.

Your post is kind of xenophobic brother, just because it's a 3rd world country it doesn't mean that.

I could explain to you here but I rather drink my beer and wait for Cyberpunk to unlock on Steam.

Sounds pretty nice, tbh I was worried it would sound a little ricey but it gives it a nice growl. Always liked messing around with the Tiburon in NFS Underground 2

My check engine light disappeared. Thank you Based Santa for the early Christmas gift.

Not enough vintage American iron in here.

Pulled the engine out of my truck today.

Hopefully I can get it to the machine shop before the end of the week, but I still have a long list of parts to buy so it's still gonna be a while before its back up and running.

After the Nissan pixo 1.0 got trashed by some idiot getting in my way not looking before crossing the road(insurance and witnesses are in my favor, so it was in fact not my fault) and my honestly likable Citroen Berlingo also ended up a total loss when it was parked and i was not even in it, i instead went for this:

2002 GK Hyundai Tiburon.

I share this car with my sister. She's showing her age, a few hundred kilometers short of reaching 300,000kms and still marching on like new and the front bumper needs a repaint because the paint is peeling off. Hasn't been serviced since the lockdowns started in March, servicing is 3 months overdue and the shop we always go to is overloaded with work.

Those wheels are "new", they came from another Tiburon in a New South Wales wreckers yard posted for sale on eBay which my sister purchased. Don't think it could be seen in the photo, but wheels are looking a bit dusty (brown) and with a lot of bird sh*t and unidentified white stains. Sandpaper will fix that.

It also needs a new exhaust system.

Kinda late but I had one of these for 6 months, mine was a 2005 facelift with the 2.0.

Lovely car but very uncomfortable, stiff handling didn't go well with my bad spine so I got rid of it and bought a E39 525I instead. Did make a nice profit on it since facelifts are hard to come by and mine was Silver instead of the usually Black or dark Blue ones you see (when you see one anyway)

Don't post much in here these days. My dad passed away a few months ago and I inherited his MR2 Spyder. Bone stock 01. Will eventually do the usual prep stuff to it (coilovers, swaybars, 15x8's or 15x9's, sticky tires, etc). I seem to have a thing for small, light cars with tons of grip and not much power. Miata finally has permanent tags on it but is still a fun toy. Did a few dragon runs with it last year. I barely ever drive the Honda anymore as a job change, COVID, and other life things has kept me away from the track. I keep spending money on it and it's at least driveable now with working vtec and no CEL for once. Need to get it aligned and some other things buttoned up on it too. Also need to fix that fender since I slid it into a bush over a year ago. The carbon hood doesn't look that pretty either anymore but oh well. It's never going to be a show car. It's been a long project since I hydrolocked the original engine with more money in it than I care to admit. A failure at the track on some fancy aftermarket stuff did make me swap back to OEM style tie rods and lower ball joints. Maybe simple is better there.

So yeah, 3 similar sized cars from 3 different manufacturers. All 2 seaters. All 4x100 bolt pattern for wheels so I can swap things around. And all are fairly close to the $2k mark (MR2 is actually the heaviest). One F/F, one F/R, and one M/R in configuration. It is fun to see how different all 3 drive.

Also, fun fact, it cost roughly $400 a year to insure all 3 cars.

there is so much misery around the world. in the 80s you could ignore it, but not now. today a nice car will be seen as a provocation. and i think it isn't abnormal. it's sad, or not i don't know, but i think nowadays a nice car is more a tax evading thing, than a road fun thing

Wired in some backup lights today.

4ikmZzY.jpg

While doing so I found the chassis ground for the trailer power plug was broken, good thing to tackle that before I went to install an electronic trailer brake controller only to find out it wouldn't work without that plug wiring sorted...

This ol' rig runs dandy! Mint as can be.

EDIT:

Top one is the last picture I took of my LS400 before I sold it on Monday, took the bottom pic Saturday morning.

The Jag is still going. Its fun to drive for sure. To own, its exasperating. Its had £400 for 4 new Pirellis, plus fitting on top. £250 in paint repair, £100 for a new battery, which its already drained out once as the boot doesnt shut properly. The exhaust sheared upstream from the driver side backbox so Ive deleted both sides for another £300. Passenger side electric mirror has a gremin and every day points in a different direction. Aeriel works when it feels like it. Front driver door has dropped and makes an almighty cracking noise when opening, and best of all, rear tail lights dont work. Brakes/fogs/blinkers are fine, just the tail lights went out one day and wont come back. Spent this saturday (and a fair bit of last weekend) dismantling the boot to check the earths, the wiring loom, both rear lamp units, all five fuse boxes, boot relays, and still nowt. Ive done in total, probably 1,000 miles in it. Oh yeah, and it gets about 15-18 mpg.
