I got the '39 Deluxe Coupe back together yesterday. The original radiator was not repairable, so the car got a new one. Darn expensive.

New upper and lower hoses, new radiator cap, new thermostats, new water pumps, carb rebuilt and new spark plugs. Don't remember if I mentioned it in a previous post, but I put a NOS set of running boards on it, too. They came out of my Dad's basement, he had bought them 50+ years ago.

I drove it down the street a couple times yesterday and it feels a lot more road-worthy. The carb flutters a little and I think the mixtures screws aren't set right. I'll tinker with that over the weekend.

2018 F-450

2019 Raptor

2020 GT350

I’m working on the border of California and Arizona now. I decided I needed something to carve Cali with on the weekends. Went to the dealership to see what they had and settled on the GT350. Paperwork is going to be stalled because it’s Memorial Day weekend, and because my bank hasn’t done business with this particular dealer, it’ll add an additional 2 business days. So pickup is likely on Thursday. The GT350 wouldn’t be my first choice for a canyon carver, but for out here it’s the best thing that’ll blend in without attracting too much attention. So on that note, it’s the most practical.

I’ll get a pic of it by the Salton Sea in the next week or so...

Something I've noticed with the Range Rover was that it didn't look too big in the showroom, but once on the road next to other cars you start to feel the size. I've attached a photo of it parked next to my mum's Cayenne. Keep in mind the air suspension was at normal ride height.

JkrlewCh.jpg

My Dad has a Range Rover too. It may not look big in a large area, but they make other SUV's look tiny in my opinion when you pull up or park next to them. They certainly have presence, that's for sure!

The LS is a big car, but the Merc looks much bigger. It looks like a land yacht ! I know the S Class' are large saloons as standard, but is that one a limo body?

That's the pre-facelift LWB W220. I think the SWB W220 only came out after the facelift in 2004.

Is it bagged or is the suspension fixed to that position? Might be a bumpy ride hey. A lot of fab work has gone into it. Nice one.

Two of my favorite lux-o-barges. Always, always, wanted a w220, just dont trust that vintage of mercedes enough anymore. I do look at classified ads now and again though and get the temptation,. If I found a clean, S500/600 I might take the brave pill, but i'm not going to hold out too much hope.

Took the '82 Trans Am out of winter storage last month.

bC5GZP6.jpg

Engine maintenance have to be done to have it ready for Summer. New oil change, oil filter, spark plugs plus wires and maybe a new distributor.

XYCK6AZ.jpg

I noticed that the rear drums were locked when I tried to drive the car out.

yONSggr.jpg

One drum didn't came out easy and had to hit with a hammer around the studs to get rid of the corrosion.

dsU6eEL.jpg

I checked each drum and cleaned them with brake cleaner.

8vNzm8H.jpg

The driver side was in better shape than the passenger which I managed to unstuck. It does spin freely and brakes properly but I might need to do both rear drums soon.

AIFxoh7.jpg

After mounting the tires, I decided to not put the wheel covers back on for a while.

60X7Fo9.jpg

That's how they are. I think they give the car a slightly raddier look.

Very pretty vintage photo of a Pontiac stand during the Los Angeles Auto Show of January 1983.

Are long champs a real thing or are they just a meme wheel at this point?

Well it was only one of the most popular wheels in 80s, 90s and 2000s japan, and a set usually goes for anywhere between 1000-2500usd in Japan and even more in the US and Europe

So calling it a "meme wheel" would be pretty foolish

The real meme are the people who put wide sticky 225s on their 85whp Miata though, that's always a good laugh

Because lateral grip isn't a thing? I bet in most situations, that lower power Miata gets driven a lot faster than a pig nose on all seasons and some heavy, oddly-sized JDM wheels.

And the meme wheel thing was a legitimate question. I feel like the majority of what I see on those wheels is the punchline so some kind of joke on some meme on fb.

What is up with Miata owners always trying to claim they're faster than everyone else lmao

The only meme here is you my friend, you could buy the cheapest chinese tires and your clapped Miata would never ever lose traction

Oddly-sized JDM wheels? Literally everyone ran 15 inch JDM wheels on their 180SX / Silvia back in the day, you're clearly tremendously clueless about this whole thing so I don't get why you're still going

My left ass cheek gets driven faster than a Miata going full throttle.

Do you do any kind of hard driving? Track days, AutoX, some sort of canyon/touge run stuff? If so, you'll see plenty of lower power momentum cars with sticky tires. The mindset that you need power to need grip is f*cking stupid. Cars turn. 9's/225's is pretty common for Miatas. Hell, 10's/245's are becoming a thing now.

And this isn't back in the day. Any fast/nice S-chassis runs 17's or 18's these days. Anyone going fast on 15's is usually in a car light enough to make the smaller 23" Miata-size tires work. Miatas, Hondas, E30's, Corollas, Minis, etc. There's also absolutely no good tire selection in 15's if you go any taller than 23" tall tires (195/50, 205/50, 225/45, 245/40) so yeah, it's a weird tire size that doesn't really work for something like an S-chassis.

Can't argue with that logic honestly. 17" wheels will always have a better tyre selection than a 15" wheel. 17" is the sweet spot in my opinion, good tyres end up being cheaper because it's a super common size on factory cars. Good tyres on any car whether its a race car or a street car will always make a massive difference in lap time or general road-going performance.

Is that the point though? The wheels on that 200 look awesome, and it looks like a road car to me. Good tyres on a 15" wheel aren't impossible to find, so what's it matter how it would perform on a track?

You do realize that not everyone gives a sh*t about being fast or pretend like their 90s sh*tbox is a track car right? I like the looks of 15s, it’s fun to drive and that’s what I care about

Like holy f*ck, why is it such a hard pill for you to swallow?

Nice, I have a 2020 Vitara myself. Super reliable and awesome on gas, pretty engaging and responsive steering for the pricepoint too.

I am thinking of replacing it as soon as I finish paying it off though. Looking at getting one of those Infiniti SUVs (EX, FX) with the 350/370 underpinnings, or any third-gen Lexus RX.
