That EcoBoost engine is really impressive, so much power (and economy) for something smaller than an A4 piece of paper.

It's the long block that fits on a piece of A4 paper, not the whole engine. The same can be said abouts lots of the little 2 and 3 cylinder turbo motors AFAIK.

 

That said, the little Ecoboosts are great engines.

About halfway done now, tomorrow it should be bolted back together, just ran into a few small issues dropping in the new motor today (stupid wiring harness!). Progress has been slow, but its also been a learning process every step of the way. While the transmission was out I did a clutch delay valve delete, new clutch line, new pressure plate and clutch.

 

 

Now while I was waiting for parts, I tore into the old engine and what I found blew my mind.

 

The first pic below is cylinder 1, and the second is 4. Compression and leak down testing showed those two clocked 190PSI & under 8% in the leak down test. For comparison, cylinders 2 & 6 were 90PSI & 80% Leak down. The head though shows no signs of major damage either, save for one bent valve & a few improperly seated valves thanks to carbon build up. I also found the block was warped (signs of overheating). On top of all that there's massive amounts of carbon build up (thanks to poor gas). For a car with 150,000Km I did not expect to see all that but hey, it is what it is. Will probably be the last time I buy a car that was only driven 2 months of the year in summer, in the Northwest Territories though haha.

Not the same design, but most of their wheels seem to retail at around £800 for a full set anyway.

I think they're all cast. Personally I wouldn't want to lump the best part of a grand for 19" cast wheels when a set of nice, flow-formed 18" ones would cost about the same with the added benefits of less weight and cheaper tyres.

 

How about a set of Speedline Marmoras?

These are genuine 19" BBS CH only £450 no curb marks but minor scratches, only problem is they're in Lancashire and I live in Luton, I wonder how much it would cost to get delivered?

They look alright, but I wouldn't dare buy something like that unseen.

 

Like any item advertised on the internet they could be fake or damaged. By all means they could be perfectly fine, but for such a high value bulky item it's just not worth the risk.

 

Generally with classifieds, as long as you keep looking at them regularly you eventually find something in your area, patience is key.

That seems astronomically cheap, to the point of sounding like a scam. A set of new CHs in 19" was well over a grand last time I checked. Rimstyle has the 19x8" ones in Scirocco fitment at nearly £1300 currently.

For shipping alloy wheels I've always used Paisley Freight.

Installed the small window on the backdoor yesterday, wuite much easier then I thoight it would have been!

 

First had to remove the door panel, take the big winow out, move the piller, wich I was expected to be stuck on the door frame with pop rivets, thank god it wasn't.

 

 

 

Slide the little window in the back with the piller and in with the big window again!
