At least it's RWD so you can have a bit of fun with it. There was an ae86 at the last drift event with a 1 barrel 4ac making similar power and he still had a blast hooning it. Gravel and wet/slick roads will be your friend with that car.

Sure thing. I live away from the city where there's loads of old bumpy gravel strips and what not. This car is ridiculously fun to take around gravel corners tounge.gif

I still try to keep it in one piece. It's in pretty good condition for such a retro wink.gif

Wasnt intended ever getting a volvo but couldn't find a KP6 Starlet or an early Escort I was looking for so hell, why not?

Hey, don't blame me for "make the whole forum hate one guy, that is trying to fit in.." because I'm not doing jack. You're making the whole forum hate you just fine without my help. Your reputation in this section of the forums has been so irreparably damaged I'd be embarrassed just to be seen here if I were you, but you seem to not have any concept of shame so I don't know. Anyway, as Sivis said, we'll just continue to discount and ignore everything you say until you provide us with some goddamn proof.

@MetalGrand: Damn the back seats look uncomfortable. The centre armrest in the front looks quite wide though, as wide as the centre armrest in my truck (damn that makes me sound so 'Murican). Does it lift up to create a bench seat in front?

@Sup3rman: My bank accounts are full tounge2.gif no just kidding. I withdraw a lot of cash at once because when I go out I tend not to bring my wallet or any money. My people sort out the bill and whatnot so I just reimburse them after they submit their expense reports. Just having to go to the ATM or bank to withdraw cash anytime you need cash is a bit inconvenient because I need cash all the time.

A damn beast it is. 1.7 in there, with mind boggling 81 horses stock!

And was 700 euros. Worked like a charm for past 2 months. About to buy some 13 inch minilites or somethin' for it soon to make it look more like this: http://i69.servimg.com/u/f69/12/89/17/77/volvo110.jpg

OMG, I never thought I'd see a car posted in here on par with mine! Most of what is in here is >$20000 USD. My hot rod sh*t can:

1990 Ford Escort 1.9L, 110hp, 3 speed (yes, 3)

Just over 75000 miles (~120700km), cost $400 for the car, and around $2000 in parts in the last year. New brakes, brake lines, fuel lines, alternator, tune up, fuel pump, water pump, heat shields, electrical problem... I'm sure there was more, but I don't want to think too much. Runs great now, only need a gasket for the exhaust, as it makes a godawful rattling when idling on a hill, or when RPM is 1750-1900.

I never really sat in the back seats, so I couldn't tell you, but I am sure they aren't very comfortable. But yes, the armrest does lift up creating a bench seat.

There was a time he said he was going to buy a Ferrari, a 360 I think. I don't believe he actually owns any vehicle. He is constantly taking pictures of the exteriors. This just proves that he has neighbors that own a car. We ask him to take specific pictures, such as interior shots to prove that they are really his cars. All of a sudden all the vehicles are an hour away and he won't see them for a week or more.

Now he has come up with this far-fetched story that he constantly cancels the registrations of his cars, keeping only one car registered. He doesn't realize it's not that easy. I know in the United States it requires a trip the DMV each time you decide to either cancel or re-register. And if you cancel your registration, you have to forfeit your plates. I can't imagine it being drastically different where he lives. And nobody in their right mind would be doing this every couple of months. He's just some kid trying to impress by saying he owns all these vehicles, but we all know the truth.

I have interior pictures. but what would that matter? if i took pics of my neighburs cars.. don't you think they would let me take photos of the inside?

Or maybe a just take the pictures from the web somewhere? and the Ferrari is still coming, but i decided not to post about it untill i have it.

Chris, how come the garrage walls in the shots of the Valiant and 300TDT are white and green, whereas in the case of the GTI they're white and brown? You can see two walls green and at least one wall white in the concrete floored workshop area, and two brown walls. That makes five walls in an industrial building that's square, and I can't see any other painted dividers in the shots. I'm not convinced they're in the same building. Also, I haven't had a chance to look at the metadata yet but I count three different cameras or camera phones being used?

Also, you say your GTi is an '86, but don't mention or explain that it's running MY90+ big bumpers? Looks like a 16v inlet manifold too, and my understanding was that whilst some were produced in the tail end of '86 they only really made it into large scale production in '87. So, given that it's clearly been modified, want to tell us more about it?

I read that and laughed a bit. There are obviously some other inside walls there, a room doesn't have to be square you know. Who knows, maybe it has a office or something built in or whatever. That wall thing is already a bit too much nitpicking i think. biggrin.gif

Why don't you get a set of the special edition wheels? They've got more of an upscale look to them that would really set off a black truck, and you can generally pick up an entire set for $400-1000 USD. (Pocket change for you)

I have no idea why there are diffrent color on the walls, since i never painted the walls. The owner before me did. I wanted space for the cars, i didn't realy care how it looked like.

Three cameras might be correct, i belive the two Merc-photos are taken from my Nikon, while one or two might have nbenn taken from my digital-camera.. not sure on the 3 one though, i had the photos in the same folder on my PC

I'm not gonna discuss the GTI untill i know all about it. Since i only driven it once, i don't realy care for it

So you're 18, pay to insure six(?) cars, and pay for a shop large enough to store 13 cars, but haven't been to it in several months, and DD a 1988 Volvo?

So you're a bit of a car enthusiast, take thousands of pictures of cars, but haven't been to see your own cars or taken pictures of them in six months?

These pics are about 6 months old.

Back in February you said you buying the 500SEL in March, and when you bought the 750 in March you said it didn't run as well as your 500SEL. That would make them no older than 4 months.

So the 500 is there, but you bought the 750 just a couple weeks after the 500. Where is it? Where's the Saab? Where's your Volvo?

He had his Merc at my garage for like a few months before i baught the car. then he decided he didn't want it anymore and asked me if i wanted it since he know i love the W126 (mostly cause of Beverly hills cop btw cool.gif )

Anyway, i think its been in the garage since November 2012, it was writhen on me in Januari i belive, and payed for it late Januari or early Februari,

And no i dont pay insurense, since they are not all in duty (i'm not sure if thats the right term though) i only use the V50 for now to and from work, and the 744 every now and then, so i dont loose the sting for manual transmission

and as i said the 744 isn't there since it was in my neighburhood, same goes for the Saab, as you might remember i posted a severel pictures of the Saab in my neighburhood. before i got the V50

So you were paying for a garage with room for 13 cars... To at that time not store any of your own cars in? Is it not illegal to park an uninsured unregistered car on the street there?

Knowing the price of commercial/industrial real estate, I find this very hard to believe. Not to mention, the ONLY time you ever had a camera out in this garage you're paying for, ALL of your cars were at home. (How did you get there?)

Now that you're at home, nearly all of your cars are at this mysterious garage, and you haven't been there in months.

And no, you didn't get the 500 in January. In mid February you were still PLANNING to buy it, as in didn't yet own it.

5 of the spaces is rented out smile.gif $300ish a pop. luckly for me garage-parking is realy wanted in stockholm.. so thats about $1,500

i pay about $100/a space so $1,300 a month, plus electric and heat.. And since i got the lift people often ask me for services smile.gif

I also store store tyres when people want to change from winter to summer tyres and the other way around in the fall and spring, so one space is

competley stacked with tyres (studded tires right now) so thats usually $15 for a 15 - 30 minute work, the most others usually ask for $30 to $100.

And some time people are nice and give a bit of tip, that have happned wery rarly though but still nice when it does happen smile.gif

So as you see, i realy have no economical problems...

Now i got way more work in my town got a new job, thats like 2 km away, so thats nice and convient, and i do not want to loose that job

plus some more jobs

anyway

and yeah now im at home and got 3 cars here

I got

Volvo V50

Saab 900

Volvo 744

Merc 500

BMW750

Audi 100

VW GTI

Plymouth Valiant

Volvo 142

The ones marked with red are the ones i got home, but i will tow the 100 Avant to the garage soon enough

Hmm maybe i did got the 500 later on, it was written on me in Jan, that i am sure of that, i might have payed for it a few weeks before the 750 come in to the picture.. oh well feels like i've got the 500 for years lol

Hope your questions have been answeared for now, now i will go to sleep, and tomorrow i will be busy , night yawn.gifsleepy.gif

oh, and only one more page untill 300 pages in this topic icon14.gif

I really can't be bothered with Chris anymore so I'm gonna talk to you Burbs. Those wheels you showed me look the same (but a bit shinier). Whats the difference? What else can I do to my truck?

Well, they're the same size, so you'd be able to remount your current tires. They're the Alcoa designed wheels that were offered on the 2006 H2 Special Edition. Not a going to be a performance upgrade or anything, but they look nicer than the original wheels, and I'd bet even more so on a black H2. The design looks somewhat similar to the 17s first offered on the GMT800 Escalades, but these are 8 spoke rather than 7, and are obviously 8 lug and a bit beefier.

Special Edition wheel:

Vs Stock:

user posted image

Exterior wise, I think a slightly oversize tire would give it a bit more of an aggressive look without needing a lift or changing the handling characteristics much. Something like a 36x12.50R17, compared to the stock 315/70R17. (Which measures out to about 34.7")

I also think painting the door handle surrounds to match the truck would give it a cleaner look, much like the GMT800 Escalades with color matched handle surrounds and chrome handles.

Interior wise, some stuff will interchange over from the 03-06 Escalades if you want a more upscale look/feel. You do't have to go all out interior swap like I did, but smaller things like the Instrument cluster and wood grain steering wheel are a bolt in swap. There's also plenty of freedom there as you can reuse your H2 airbag cover, or you could get teh Cadillac cover. There's the standard Escalade wheel, or the Platinum/Envoy Denali wheel which is black, is trimmed in a darker redder wood, and has the chrome trim between the wood and leather.

user posted image

user posted image

If you're looking for comfort upgrades, the Escalade seats of the same generation should be a bolt in swap. And once again, you can use Cadillac headrests in them, or keep the H2's headrests with new seats. GM's platform sharing really comes in handy sometimes.

This is all assuming your H2 is 2006 or older. I believe in mid 2007 they updated the electronics to those of the GMT900 platform. But I recall GM stating earlier that the H2 would never see the 900 platform, so I don't know if they transferred everything over or just the electronics.

My H2 is '05 actually. The isntrument cluster and steering wheel shouldn't be too expensive I assume. Is that instrument cluster you posted from an Escalade? I think that would look really nice.

Yeah, to me it looks and sounds like you just happen to have access to a storage and workshop someone you know happens to own.

The gauges can get expensive (by my junkyard pricing standards), and can cost up to $300+. You can sometimes find them as low as $150 or so online. Self service junk yards are the cheapest and they'll generally sell clusters for around $25-35. Steering wheels also vary in pricing. The standard Escalade steering wheels you can usually find on ebay in good shape for around $80, the Platinum Edition wheels average around $110, but you can sometimes find them cheaper. I paid around $75 for mine.

20,000 is low for a '04 car! How's the red paint holding up? I've started to see a lot of '03 and up cars fade. Red is a notorious colour for that happening. Hopefully I can buy my first car soon now that I've got a part time job. What are your opinions on split steel wheels when they're on older hatchbacks?

No offense, but i would never buy such a car, even when im really desperate for just a decent car wich is also fuel effiecent. I just couldnt imagine myself in a Getz. I don't have my own car, but when theres enough money, i would like something that would differ from the other cars, something special. Ofc nothing too out of this world, that would get expensive.

Hopefully I can buy my first car soon now that I've got a part time job. What are your opinions on split steel wheels when they're on older hatchbacks?

Yeah it's hardly run in at 20,000. My Mum has done about 2000 miles a year in it since buying it in late 2004. The paint has held up fine on the metal body and still looks like new since it's clear coated. The clear coat on the plastic spoiler has peeled off so it's matte, I'll be respraying that myself. I think split steel rims look good on older hatchbacks personally.

They might not be particularly cool or interesting but there's nothing wrong with driving a Getz until you can afford to buy a nice car.
