I don't know about the other users, but I bought my car as an "used car", and it was really cheap.

Ours is new, $31k. We're not rich though, lol. Parents ran into a few problems before getting the car today.

I bet its not hard...it seems to be easy to earn money everywhere in the US. Also cars seem to be way cheaper and also electronics. Im in my final grade at school so working is also not a real option. Only jobs are summerjobs and i don't earn that much money from there.

If your in your final grade at high school, then you can definitly get a job and save money. You must want a car, but not really want a car or else you could have definitly found a way. A buddy of mine is in a bunch of hard classes, he has a job and saved his money and he bought himself a chevy pickup. Plenty of kids, have their parents pay for there first cars, or half but kids like me or some people I know bought themselves car after only a couple of months.

 

Trust me, I want a car, but I'm too f*cking lazy and didn't take a job that was offered to me. Now I'm gonna get stuck with some piece of crap car, 3 months later than my other friends who've been driving now.

On the other hand, GTAF has millions of visitors and it's only natural that there will be a substantial population of people who have really nice cars...especially those who are willing to out of their way to "Post a pic of your car here!" (and I'm certainly not one to criticise people just for having nice things).

You have to start somewhere. Not everybody is rich or has mommy and daddy buying them everything. I personally work hard for everything I have and I don't take it for granted, because I know it could all come crashing down at any moment.

One of the things I've always liked about this thread is that for the most part, everyone seems to be proud of having their own personal car. Be it an old rust bucket or a new luxury sedan, it's all here. At the same time, while we may at one point or another feel a little jealous of someone else's possessions, I rarely see any sort of negative reactions between members for what they have.

 

Judging people based on what they own or what they drive is not what this thread is about. It's about the car, the truck, or whatever else they get by with. This thread clearly has members at both ends of the automotive spectrum, but that's what makes it so great. Good luck trying to show off your SUV on a Bentley forum, or at least garner some sort of positive response.

 

I hate it when people start getting called out for their wealth, or lack thereof. It's all relative, but in the end it comes down to the cars. It doesn't matter if it cost you $2k or $200k, if you're proud of it show it off.

Also I don't appreciate it when people just assume I have everything handed to me and I don't work for sh*t. Yes, the Bentley was a present from my parents but take into consideration my other cars. I could afford a Bentley myself if it came to that. I can't deny I'm extremely lucky to be in the position I'm in but don't mistake that for apathy or laziness. I consistently work 12 to 14 hour days, 7 days a week. I work through Christmas and New Years. I've spent my past 4 birthdays alone in an airport or on a transatlantic flight.

 

I'm not trying to belittle any of you here as I know I have it real good compared to a lot of people and I know a lot of you work just as hard as I do, my point is I hate this stereotype of a lazy rich douchebag who mooches off his family as I know that is what I am not. One more thing, I only have time to drive the Bentley maybe a couple of times a year because I am always on the road (or air more likely). I barely have time to enjoy the things I have.

My post wasn't pointed at anybody specific, I was just making a point that you have to start somewhere. My first car was a 1992 Dodge spirit lol. I put that car through hell. Then I moved up to the Cobalt SS which I then traded on my Challenger. Which will be traded on a Nissan GTR XD

@Outcast I hear you on the not being able to enjoy stuff much. Most of my time is spent in the cab of a truck, 16 hour or more days for weeks at a time, when I get home all I want to do is relax but I can't ecause I have to take care of bills and stuff before I leave for work again.
