Looking to buy a car. Im interested in the 2012 Toyota Camry SE, 2013 Nissan Altima, or the 2013 Honda Accord. Im more than open to any other suggestions. Looking in a price range of 20,000 to around 30,000. Its okay if it goes a little over 30,000.

Finally able to post a picture of my VK Commodore. Well it still technically is my father's but upon being old enough to legally drive a V8, this is all mine. It's been sitting unregistered for awhile, but I'm going to clean it up real soon.

How long until you're off your P's so you can drive a V8?

Stupid laws. That car has what, 115kw? And you're not allowed to drive it, however a 2012 SV6 has 220kw but you can drive that. lol

I think this is the first time I'm posting an exterior pic of my 740Li.

How old do you have to be to drive a V8 in Australia?

Sadly, still a fair while indeed. I've spent a lot of time moving states recently and it's causing a hell of a lot of hassle with my licence.

Gives me plenty of time to tidy it up and getting back in show car condition though.

I wish I could give you a straight answer. But I've had trouble figuring this out for myself...

I know you're not allowed to before earning your full licence. (Your Learners and and Probationary 1 & 2's.)

And I think they passed a law in Western Australia, that you can't drive a V8 until 21 years of age.

It's quite a mess indeed.

Sort of similar to motorbikes in the UK then I suppose, not being allowed to ride anything above 250cc until you're 21. At least I think it was like that when I did my CBT back in '07

@Kifflom: thanks lol

You can't drive a V8 in Ireland until you're 25...

It's troublesome to get insurance on high powered I4 and V6s as well.

Once you turn 30, it's all downhill.

That didn't pass, thank god.

WA still remains the only state where a 17 year old P plater can drive any car they want tounge.gif

That's what I like about Poland.

18? No driving history? No discounts? OK. You can drive a Koenigsegg CCX. Let's make it more realistic - Audi S8.

Ah, I didn't know that. Regardless they both look great. Our family's first car back in my grandfathers generation was a Beetle and so we've always had a special place in our hearts for it.

I've gotten addicted to them. I'm actually picking up a 73 Standard Bug to daily while I do a good resto on the 67 you see there. That is unless I damn good bus pops up. I'd love a bus.

How expensive are they maintenance wise, minus the engine (which I hear is like making a Lego kit) and body work? Buddy of mine has a 71 he wants to sell, and while I haven't looked at it, it does run he says.

They're dirt cheap to maintain so long as you get one that's not a rustbucket. That can get expensive. One gripe I have is most of the parts out there are cheap chinese things as VW more or less just quit supporting anything air-cooled.

It's been in the garage for about 6 years now, so rust shouldn't be too much of a worry. I know that pretty much everything down to the oil filters have to be bought online these days, which is a shame. You'd think for the millions sold, that Volkswagen would throw a little love to the air cooled masses. Maybe they just want to forget their Nazi heritage wink.gif

All mounted up, 2" spacers moved up front, new 3" spacers out back. Only rub is on the inner fender, and a little on the frame at full lock. I'll rivet the inner fender to the fender to pull it up out of the way.

Hopefully the next thing will be getting the sunroof in or getting the rear bumper and hitch moved up. After that, I'll be starting the Escalade exterior conversion.

I like them. Looks good. And also cheap and last a long time. People say a used 75%-more tread 8 ply (load range D) hummer tire will outlast a new 10 play (load range E) light truck tire. Just out of curiosity, how much weight are they rated for compared to your old tires?

The old BFGs were rated for 3195 lbs each. Off the top of my head, I believe these were rated for 3650.
