So this is the beast I'm driving now. Taken at a friends house earlier today.

What I like about it is the fact that it gets 53 actual MPGs. It's pretty comfortable for a small car, fairly well built and the 1.4 diesel makes it pretty quick. The best part about it is that I only pay 32% of the diesel I put in it, and the car itself costs me a whopping 800SEK per month ($115, £73,50). That's including insurance, tax, service and depriciation.

Oh, and I only keep those KIA/Rio/7-year warranty-stickers on it because you can make a pretty big tax-deduction for "having" to have them on your car and using it outside of work.

Niiiceeeeeeeee icon14.gif I love KIA's

everything is way too overpowered. The steeringwheel is too easy to manipulate, you can use one finger basically... Hard to keep it straight sometimes.

I believe it's because it's all electronic steering, so you can't even feel the wheels turn. I agree that would suck on freeways.

The seats look like the most unsupportive things ever. They make Pat' L7 seats look like racing seats.

Yeah, they're very basic. I'd like a set of the later seats fitted from the early 90's onwards but they can be quite expensive for a pair that aren't grey velour:

What do you mean? Using it for promotional purposes?

Even though work owns the car I use it for private transportation (the basic concept of a förmånsbil). It is however striped with KIA and my workplace logos which makes it a rolling advertisement. Because of that, the Swedish government feels sorry for me and allows me to make a big tax deduction for that. lol.gif

But a Kia. Meh. I guess it gets you from point A to point B very cheap

Which is the only reason I chose to drive this instead of a private owned car. Like I've mentioned elsewhere I've just finished school and started working full-time as a car salesman so this is a great way for me to be able to put money aside for a proper car. turn.gif

Thanks Piperka!

Haha cool, that reminds me of the tax loophole in Ireland which has everyone replacing all their rear windows with metal blanks to get a van classfication.

@Lurch: Kia/Hyundai is giving such generous offers because they have vastly improved their cars, in my opinion overtaking many of the established marques, so they want to gain exposure and have everyone tell their friends what a great car it is. It's essentially a new brand image, so anyone who buys one in this transitionary period is getting a great deal, but I predict they are going to raise their prices once everyone trusts the brand.

Unfortunately it doesn't work anymore. Engine swap is the way to go!

In Ireland is insurance based on engine displacement, or is it the car the engine came from? In a magazine I read about someone in the UK who had a 1.6 Civic and got cheaper insurance by putting a CR-V 2.0 in it.

What's swapped into that? Because a 2.0 in that sounds like slowest thing known to man. Like the smallest US 740i still weighs 4255 lbs. Guessing that 720i is probably still on th high side of 4k lbs. Probably somewhere in the realm of 150 hp? How does such a thing even move?

Wow that's a nice interior Illousion, a little bland, but who cares about bland when the finish is that good?

Also: heated steering wheel!?

Unfortunately some image hosting sites like imageshack aren't working here in China so I'm unable to see the pics. Though regarding what epoxi said earlier about Kia/Hyundai. I can attest to that. I somehow got my ass in a Kia K5 for a test drive last summer and was pleasantly surprised. For the price the sh*t you get as standard is ridiculous (dual sunroofs for starters), in China at least.

Looks like the top on the LTD could use some love. Vinyl seperating at the front? My friend had the vinyl top redone on his Fleetwood last year and it really wasn't near as pricey as he thought it was going to be.

It's based on insurance groups just like UK which the Irish Insurance Association's underwriters control.

For example a Volvo V50 T5 is a lower group than a BMW E91 320d.

@Lurch: It was swapped to a 2.0 litre just to register it as a two litre, the 2.8 straight-six is back in it now. 193hp.

The LTD only has vinyl covering the back half of the roof. wink.gif What you see is a not finished attempt at fixing rust that started creeping behind the chrome trim around the windshield. Had to change the windsheild so the chrome trim had to go off anyways.

The vinyl is is surprisingly good shape on it, not a single sign of rust anywhere plus it's still solid without any cracks and such.

The finish is pretty good yes, way above my initial expectation. And yes, the wheel is heated. Pretty nice feature on those artic winter mornings. smile.gif

My friend's galaxy is basically the same. That's always a bad spot for fords.

What's up with the bro-ham under the tarp. Just trying to keep it dry or is it need of some repair?

That's the old mans way of keeping it clean & dry in between the weekend drives. It's the same as with the Ford. Intended to be a daily driver, winds up being a weekend cruiser. Dad has a car through work and mom won't drive it, so it justs sits.

Well, thought i'd join in on the topic.

I'm driving a VW Golf Mk.3, 1.8 ltr diesel engine. Drives like a dream to be honest. Got it like 3 years ago.

Pretty generic car here in Holland but it's a great car. These pics are kinda old, i changed the taillights with some GTI ones (darker design) plus i changed the rims.

It's actually a 1.9 (1896cc)

Yeah that's right. It get's great acceleration man, especially for a diesel, but it takes off faster than a lot of petrol cars. It's a great car to drive.

Was going through some sh*t and I found these pictures. It was from when I got the 740Li last year. Here in China when you buy something like a 7 or S Class they do this big ceremony thing where they unveil the car and clap and make you feel like a total boss. notify.gif

Well that's certainly not what we'd expect in Ireland. I don't know about other dealers, but Volvo dealers don't do anything like that here.

*But then, an estate Volvo isn't anything special*

In India you get a full ceremony just for buying a Ford Fiesta, but I've never experienced anything like that in the UK. That said we have never bought a luxury car new.

Well I don't know, the XJ thing was way back though. Mid to late 90s I think. I suppose here in China people expect to have a little ceremony when you take delivery of your new car as it's such a new thing as people are only starting to be able to afford these luxuries.
