Do you guy get the Superb? Its the first Skoda I like

Yes, we do get it. I think you can get it with Haldex and the R36 engine, for perfectly discrete wafting.

I don't think we get it in China either, I've just checked and the most we get is the 2.0 TSI

Do we? I wasn't aware that there were any differences in the Superb in different markets apart from engines available.

Yeah, that's the only design difference AFAIK.

Just out of wonder, how much is gasoline in China / Taiwan?

ermm, i don't know exactly how much gas is. i've never really looked at it.

I can tell you it costs me about €40 (~325RMB) to fill up my Infiniti Q45 and thats a 4.1L V8 in China, and it costs me about €65 (~2,500NT$) to fill up my Flying Spur in Taiwan. All this is from empty or near empty btw so pretty much how much it costs for a full tank.

VED is about £460 a year over here, which is relatively cheap for an N/A V6 powered car. As for maintenance costs, I'm not sure where you've got the idea that they're sh*t as aside from the DSG related issues which seem to prevail in every manufacturers double-clutch systems (and have largely been sorted by later model years) there are pretty much no issues to speak of. The basic engine architecture is well-proven and they'll hold 500+bhp on standard pistons, which is almost unheard of for N/A cars. The VR6 engine is fantastic, too- throttle response is far better than the twin turbo BMW lump of the same ilk and power output. Fuel economy isn't great, but you don't buy a 3.6L, AWD saloon for good fuel economy do you?

Meh, so it's about the same as in the States.

Half of what you'd pay here.

€2258 tax here, €1.70 petrol, ridiculously expensive car servicing and all parts would have to be imported either from the UK or Germany.

Did you not get the Golf R32, all wheel drive Octavias, Passatts and Audi A4s? It shares about a metric f*ck-tonne of it's components with other VAG models- the only things that are likely to be unique are the engine internals and they're not exactly consumable parts.

And £2k tax, that's obscene. I've never understood countries with tax regimes that actively prohibit people making large financial purchases- it simply cannot be good for an economy.

It makes sense if the country in question is trying to protect domestic manufacturers like they're doing in China.

All R32 Golfs were imported. These were not officially available at VW dealerships.

No AWD Octavias, but we did get Passats and A4s with AWD. 4Motion and Quattro.

Outcast: Yeah, it's not really to protect anyone, since the car industry in Ireland simply doesn't exist. We don't produce or assemble.

On top of that Vehicle Registration Tax which for the Superb V6 is 33% of the car's value. It's an illegal tax and Ireland gets penalised on this by the EU, but the revenue from this VRT is so massive, they can afford the fine.

We're going to completely black the car out.

All the chrome will be gone.

As far as lowering it goes I don't think we really can since those 17" wheels with decently sized sidewall on the tires.

Rides like a dream as is anyways.

Don't fix what ain't broke. tounge.gif

Nabbed all four headrests for $31. The adjustable front headrests have narrower frames, so I can't use them. confused.gif

I do plan on dying or painting my seats to match the console and headrests, but I need to find some leather paint or dye to match the factory shale.

Also painted my receiver, rear step, and exhaust pipe since the last pictures.

You know it's amazing what some 409 and a wet soapy rag will do to an engine bay.

Was kind of expecting you to post a pic of your engine bay because if you were referring to my car, it looks horrible and is about as dirty as it gets from the silencer pad foam falling apart all over it.

I was indeed referring to your car. tounge.gif Is there nothing you can do to keep the foam from disintegrating? I'd imagine even something as simple as spray adhesive and plastic wrap could hold it together better than nothing. And if nothing else at least keep it from dusting your engine bay. I'm sure there are probably better solutions but at 1:00am with my current sleeping pattern that's all I can think of, and there's a good chance I'll reread this tomorrow and ask myself what I was thinking.

I would have gladly attached a picture of my engine bay with that last post but it was already dark at the time, and still is.

Edit: found this one from one or two weeks ago. Was about week or so since I had last swiped it down.

I will probably just cover the engine bay with a big trash bag and pressure wash what is left of it. If you noticed, I already blasted half of it off.

That engine cleaner at self car washes actually works really well.

I use it on ours and the damn thing stays super clean.

I'll go snap a pic real quick.

Ignore the dirt on the battery case. Cleaned the contacts yesterday and sat it on some dirt. Haven't cleaned it off yet.

Edit-if it's going to page 1, skip ahead to one of the last ones. Everything from the gold 350 to the white 240. If that doesn't work. Go to the home page, click on the 4/14/12 album, than cars, than one of the last pages.

Chrome or polished? Those actually look pretty good on that. Although a darker set might have gone with the car better since the rest of the car looks fairly blacked out.

They're chrome, I'm going for an old school look with the car that's why they're all chrome. Next up will be a new Cervini shaker hood and Stainless hoodpins
