Would have probably needed trans, rear end, and halfshalfts from the M3 as well. Is an E36 M3 rear end large case or medium case? Is the E36 318 small case like the E30 318 was?

The m3 is large case, E36 318ti is medium case, at least I think so.

On top of that the M-Sport front bumper, xenon headlights, on-board computer, cluster, and I think that's it. I didn't really look that deep into the project, since it was just speculation, was going to take a closer look at it when actually I'd have both cars.

I don't think the 318ti driveshafts (which you'd have to use because of the shorter wheelbase) fit with the 6-speed M3 box or differential. I think when BMW M built the one-off 332ti for Auto Motor und Sport they used custom shafts and the gearbox from a 328iS.

There was a couple of conversions done, so I'd just have a look. Anyway, it doesn't matter, the car is gone.

Shortening driveshafts isn't too big of a deal. Any driveshaft shop can cut and balance one. Would probably want the M3 one to start with though since I'm guessing it might use stronger thicker wall tubing.

Even if the car is gone and the project isn't happening, I still like the discussion of it. A short wheelbase lightweight hatchback M3 would probably be pretty fun.

Maybe someday, but in a different form

If I was going through the pain of having to wire and fab sh*t up anyway, I'd probably rather use a lighter E21.

Stroked S85 in an E21 shell, please. Tidy 500bhp in a sub-1000kg shell.

Good luck with that, hard enough to find an S85... Not even mentioning an E21...

I'm actually starting to notice E21's becoming more common these days. Maybe the whole E30 thing is so overdone now that people are starting to bring the E21's out of the barn and have a go at them.

Brain fart, I meant S65. There's one up on Ebay for five grand, And this tidy non-sunroof 1976 bare shell with no rust or damage would present a pretty perfect base.

That's a stolen engine.

How? It's probably an engine from a CAT C damaged car.

This. It will have the VIN stamped on the side of the block to prevent ringing or parting. All you need to do is make sure it's not been acid etched off and chances are it's from a heavily bent Cat-C.

I reckon on the fact it's situated in Poland. Closet racism much?

So, I called about the engine, since I actually know the workshop that's selling it.

It came out of a salvage US-Spec M3. It was imported to Poland in 2010, but it turned out to be too much hassle to fix, so they dismantled the rest of it for parts.

Also, they sell much more engines too, in case anyone's interested. None of them are stolen, all taken from salvage US cars.

leik oh em jeez!
Speaking from experience. Not my money tho, go wild lil' buddy!

"I bought an engine one time that ended up being stolen, so all engines for sale on ebay are stolen."

Is that what you're getting at, or do you actually have some reason to say that, other than just a hunch based on experience?

Fitted a new interior in my Mini. Looks much less DIY now. The new seats aren't quite as stylish but are much more comfortable and mean there's room for people in the back.

I liked it before better. Although I like the black vinyl better than the grey. The rubber caps on the pedals are better, though.

You can't really tell from the picture but the dash wasn't very good at all. It didn't fit properly so rattled all of the time and the stereo kept falling out. Not to mention the carpets were filthy. I didn't originally plan on getting a walnut dash. I was going to get a gloss black one but this one came up for £20 so I couldn't really turn it down. Like I say though, the old seats were better looking but these are way more practical and are in better condition. Going to pick up some new spotlights and a front bumper tomorrow so the car should be looking even better then.

The old seats look like they would hold you in a lot better if you drove a Mini like it's supposed to be driven.

That's true, I was nearly thrown out of the seat driving it earlier.

That's because it looks like a redneck hacked it together.

I love the new interior, I really want a Mini.

I'll post a new pic of the Bug after I do a few more things to it(a few weeks, I promise).

Wish I was as cool, but I'm not as it happens!

55 plate (late 2005) Ford Focus diesel, 1.8L TDCi Duratorq engine in light graphite, 5 doors.

At work my cars are more interesting 11 plate Ford Focus 1.6L Diesels, estate with 5 doors, marked up with a boot full of equipment, interestingly they're not designed to go fast, merely swiftly! I'm not trusted enough to drive anything over 1.6 at work...

I think there are enough photos of my car in here already but I've got it looking how I want now. New spotlights, badges and the cigarette lighter has been fitted.
