what would be the alternative? can't not have the front plate

I don't have a front plate. tounge.gif

I understand where you're coming from, but I don't think you understand where he's coming from.

In my opinion, they could have changed the bumper design just slightly to incorporate the plates that they should know are going onto their cars.

It always seems like such an afterthought.

my daily driving car, '97 Infiniti Q45

I'd like to see if anyone can figure out where I work in china from the license plate

Zhangzhou

Initial character of licence plates used in Fujian is: 闽 (Mǐn)

闽E — Zhangzhou

The plate isn't hanging in the air, Lurch. The EU bumper has a designed place for the reg plate.

But it still looks odd, and that is what he is getting at. Front plates always ruin the the front of a car. It really sucks that in Ontario you need one.

Also Lurch, don't states different on requiring a front plate or not?

Well, if you're American you're definitely not used to see it. It doesn't bother me much, but I would of course prefer not to have the plate in the front.

Actually, I wouldn't mind having one US plate in the rear.

I'm not saying it hangs in the air, just that it blocks what should be part of the air dam/grill there on our version and looks bad in comparison.

@ The General - the lame states do. Where I live in TN, it's about as automotively free as it gets.

There are states that require a front plate in the US. Just an FYI

That looks good. Pretty neutral on the clear indicators though. No real like or dislike for them over amber ones.

Here it is next to a good friends two Volvo 940's. The red one is a '96 Turbo with the M90 trans. Should make a fun daily driver.

Some bonus pics. A buddy took out the grille to put aux-lights on his car, looks so-so IMO. lol.gif

I love that generation of Thunderbird. My grandmother used to own a white '88 TurboCoupe, it was just a fantastic looking car.

Wiring is done for the clock. +12v and G were stolen from an the leftover wiring from an old remote starter, illumination on/off was wired from the 4x4 controls, LEDs are HP5's which were custom installed into T1.5 sockets. A lot of work for something so simple.

CD changer wiring needs to be restarted. Turns out about half of the wires are broken internally somewhere within an inch of one end of the cable that connects the changer to the head unit. THAT's why the old slave CD drive didn't work.

Next trip to the pick n pull: New cable for CD changer, passenger bumper/fender filler, maybe an 03+ GMC steering wheel with radio controls, and whatever else I find that I think I can shoehorn into the Suburban.

I might be getting myself a project next week. Stay tuned.

If it's not at least 80's or older, I'm going to be really disappointed.

Man, those flag spike things just look horrible. What is their purpose exactly?

Oh, and 96 is way too new to be a project car unless you're prepping it some kind of racing.

Not really, if the car itself is in terrible condition, it would be a project to make it look good. Also converting a common model into a more rare model would also be a project, like BC's Evo project. Though I do have to wonder what you would do to a 96 M3 besides fixing it up or racing it.

I was going to buy a 318ti Compact and then swap the engine. The car was scrap, but for €500, it was worth the price.

Would have probably needed trans, rear end, and halfshalfts from the M3 as well. Is an E36 M3 rear end large case or medium case? Is the E36 318 small case like the E30 318 was?

The m3 is large case, E36 318ti is medium case, at least I think so.

On top of that the M-Sport front bumper, xenon headlights, on-board computer, cluster, and I think that's it. I didn't really look that deep into the project, since it was just speculation, was going to take a closer look at it when actually I'd have both cars.
