That post sums up perfectly why your country sucks such a massive dong. Can't afford to fuel a 3.0. You would probably cringe if you had to pay your country's fuel prices on some of the cars over here.

 

It is a shame that you had to get rid of such a nice car to be replaced with something not as nice. E46 or not, a 320d just doesn't bring the cool factor a 530 does.

Yeah, it's got the chrome beauty rings. I got the belt tensioner replaced and it no longer stings your ears to stand in front of it while it's running, but it still squeals a little bit.

With my driving, I got an average of 12.4l/100km which is more-less 19mpg.

If I had a full time job and earned more than the €6.40 I get at the moment, I'd probably be able to have enough money for gas for a 540i ;-)

 

If I ever move to the States, I'll buy a Ford F150. Just to enjoy wasting all that precious fuel

Pfft, that's not even hardcore fuel wasting around here. You gotta at least get an Avalanche or a Suburban 2500 4x4 with the 8.1L Vortech.

Literally no idea, i've taken it to 5 seperate mechanics and nobody can find what the problem is. It stays at around 20-22mpg regardless of wether i drive like an old lady or colin mccrae with a rocket up my arse, my petrol gauge is tempermental so i work my fuel out using the tripometer, 20mpg no matter what. It's sh*t though because i don't have a permanent income and my overheads are £400-500 a month so i literally can't afford to save for a better car and because of how terrible the building industry in Liverpool is at the moment i can't see myself getting anything better anytime soon.

Do that and replace the little 1500 with a some hot dual port (1835), and that would be the nicest driving classic-looking VW ever. Old looks and wide 5 wheels but with modern IRS trans and 12 volt electrics.

Can't be Arsed to obscure the registration this time.

Your lucky you don't get pulled over for those real lights. Non-yellow or white rear indicators, no rear reflectors/fog-light (I can't tell which you've got but you've only got one) and non-quite reversing lights are 3 points/£60 fine each if you get unlucky with someone anal enough to pull you over form them. That's an instant driving ban...

Let me put it into my perspective, If i were to pull you over, the list would follow as;

 

Illegal Light Covers - £60 Fine and 3 Penalty Points (offence against section 76 RTA) (supply of defective or unsuitable additions)

No Visible Reflectors - £60 Fine and 3 Penalty Points (offence against section 25 RTA) (tampering with legal requirements)

Illegal Registration Plate - £60 Fine and 3 Penalty Points (offence against section 76 RTA) (supply of defective or unsuitable additions)

(also, only Country Information Templates are legally allowed at the left hand side of the plate, other images can be classed as tampering)

 

 

Then have the car Seized under Section 69 Of the Road Traffic Act as an Unfit vehicle for the road.

 

 

Total Points - 9

Total Fine - (60+60+60) + (120 (for tow truck)) + (£25 for first day in the courtyard) = £325

 

 

Alot of fines just for one area of a car.

The Bug and the Model T are the only ones that are the same basic car in that whole span of time. Golfs, Corollas, and Ford pickups have been significantly redesigned over and over. While they might share a name, the various gens aren't really the same car.
