So she's in the garage for the winter. I plan on dropping the motor and chasing an oil leak that been bothering me. after that I'm gonna get a new choke for the carb, do a valve job and re-time. Hopefully she'll be running good after.

Slamman, holy f*ck, what is honestly wrong with you?

You're actually getting worse, is there a gas leak in your current residence?

Its a vehicle topic and he replied on a post, saying that spoilers are not meant to increase Horsepower. Whats wrong with that guys? mercie_blink.gif Just asking.

Why don't you follow him out the door? You've obviously not been here long enough, and don't understand the rules well enough, to understand that posting a(n inaccurate) reply to a banned member in a topic a week old isn't acceptable. So I suggest you go back and read the site rules, until you realise this.

Okay man.. I get it.. The person he replied to was banned and that post was a week old and replying to him is against the rules but though I am new here, I find it weird that slamman is always subjected to rude comments. I didn't make my last post to piss off anyone, so I will appreciate that the old members don't divert the rudeness on to me.

Yet, it should be noted clearly that spoilers are not meant to increase horse power. Thats my point in a vehicle topic.

It should be noted that anyone with a quarter of a brain knows that anything that isn't actually a part of the damn engine is going to have no affect on the horsepower whatsoever.

Also, you guys are terrible at understanding sarcasm apparently.

Mildly OT- There's a good reason for that. It's because he's basically a glorified spammer. He posts in dead threads, replies to banned members and is particularly bad at posting completely irrelevant, rambling personal accounts of off-topic crap into what are otherwise good thread. Have a look at quite literally ANY of his posts in the Tech Chat section as a perfect example.

Back on-topic, that beetle is looking tidy. A small-bumper stock-looker like that would suit a 3.0 Subaru flat-4 in the boot, running on ITBs. Radiator can sit on top of the velocity stacks, a la the intercooler on 964 Turbos.

I've never been a fan of water cooled swaps into bugs. Overcomplicating and weighting down the simplest thing ever. Can get some decent power out of the VW engines (Can build a mean 2332 on the stock mag case). Granted, it can get a little spendy.

Could always do the classic 911 swap. Apparently, a 2.8 RSR engine fits in just fine...

I have no idea what an RSR engine cost, but I'm guessing it's far more than a built VW engine. A 2332 with all the best parts can be built for around 6k USD. With an honest 230 hp at the flywheel. Which in a 1600 lbs. bug, would be beyond mental.

You could probably build an RSR spec motor for about £10k. 2.4 engine- about £5k if your really lucky. Overbore to 2.8, big port cylinder heads with solid lifters and oversize valves, lumpy cams and modified 48mm Jenveys, plus tweaks to spark and a map- for someone skilled in machine work or access to someone who is who charges minimal (mates) rates, that could all be done for about £5k including mapping, clutch and flywheel. Good for about 350bhp- though 230 bhp out of a standard VW flat-4 is pretty damn impressive...

To be fair, the 230 hp figure is a figure I saw in a vw mag for a dyno comparison for an engine buidoff with basically full race trim motors. A more streetable 2332 with a motor will be under 200 hp.

This one is 186 hp with a muffler and not all the best and baddest parts. Although not too far off. And probably a little more user friendly. Also, uses a stronger aftermarket aluminum case so about 25 lbs. heavier. Still fast. 0-60 in 3.7 seconds. nervous.gif

I couldn't put a water cooled engine into the Bug. I do want to put in my 1835cc once i get a decent block for it. I haven't decided on paint. You can't really tell in any of my pictures but it wasn't done well at all. Plus i'm not to fond of the blue.

I have a W140 S280 - always loved this car. Petrol is expensive in the UK hence the 280 and not the 500 smile.gif

Me neither since the S420 should get much better MPG.

It is however unnecessary to own a car with a 5.0 V8 in my opinion...

Fuel consumption (urban)  14.9 mpg

Fuel consumption (extra urban)  28.2 mpg

Fuel consumption (combined)  21.2 mpg

Fuel consumption (urban)  13.2 mpg

Fuel consumption (extra urban)  25.2 mpg

Fuel consumption (combined)  19 mpg

Is it really worth it? 2 MPG for lack of power?

Unnecessary? Maybe. But those big engines sure are a hell of a lot of fun when you put your foot down. That reminds me, my friend has a Buick with a pre-smog 455 ci (7.4L) V8. 330 hp. More or less the same weight as a W140. That car is all kinds of quick for such a massive machine. Isn't there that one dude from Sweden on here that has a Cadillac with the big 500 ci (8.2L) V8. Always was impressed with those massive engines much more than the cars they went in.

Indeed, if I had the choice I would of got a S320 at least. Problem was , I was 23 in 2007 and insurance wise the 280 was the only viable option. Now I could get an M5 without insurance difficulties.

I hope to get a 545 within the next year. 330 HP should be fun ....

It's all about downsizing now! sarcasm.gif

1.8 TSI engine from VW produces 200hp. It's pretty quick.

However, I'd take the 2.5 litre straight-six from the E34 525i anyday (M50B25)

Not as dark as I wanted but this way makes it look a bit more like an OEM French light than a Hella fog. Doesn't make any noticeable difference to light density either.

E28 never fails to impress me. icon14.gif

Have lots of good memories and experiences of them. Might buy one if i get a chance.

Used to have 535 as a project with my father and brothers when i was like 13.

We did some little fixing and added the basic "M5 look-alike" body kit's and such.

Sold it to some teenager kid as his third car and a month after he drove it roof first to a tree and got killed.

It's probadly as a bottle caps around the world right now.

Why am i telling you a stories of my childhood? However here's is my VW.

Nothing special at all as it's pretty much just a temporar car, just trying to keep it as a one piece until i get something.

And yes, i am about to change the doors as i have have the normal ones laying in the garage. You're not the only one they currently look retarded.

They're urinary lights, duh!  sigh.gif

I like them smile.gif I think that the yellow light is to improve the vision in fog...

Got a new car a couple months ago Peugeot 206. Touch wood its all be great. Its second hand from a local dealership quite a bargain to, £1,500. I think when we bought it, it had done about 50-60K miles on it. Again pretty good considering its 5-6 years old I think. I forget. Anyway, we used to have an old Clio. f*ck is this so much more faster. Love taking over cars in this thing since it hits the deck pretty f*cking quick. Its a 1.4 petrol. We removed the CD player though since the 6 disc changer in the boot was broken which sucked, but replaced it with my CD player so all is good.

It has some slight wear on the paint, but you can hardly notice unless you really look. Steering wheel was faded to hell though, hence the cover for it. Oh, love the automatic wipers to for when its raining pretty nifty.

Lol i just saw your comment (i don't log in too often sad.gif ). Ok, as i know, the mk1 models have better handling, BUT the mk2's have much better safety and improved 1.4 petrol engines wink.gif (mine is 75hp 8valves , the mk2's are 90hp and 16valves). The only bad about the mk2 Xsaras is that in some parts of the interior (in the doors) they used plastic instead of ''leather''. smile.gif Anyway, prefer a Mk2 in my opinion! biggrin.gif
