There is absolutely nothing interesting about modern Citroens. None of the hydropneumatic or space-age styling or clever engineering. They just look like Renaults. icon13.gif

(not slating your car really, but the whole brand itself).

Worse- they're all regurgitated Peugeots.

Unfortunately you are right about the design...But most people want ''normal'' cars in design...So Citroen had to adapt...Thank God it's fun to drive!!!But not in 1.4 litres... sad.gif

Yeap!Such as Fiat Group,GM,VW Group etc. ...The chassis engines and generally all the mechanical parts are the same in every Group's brands the only differences are the design the interior quallity and in some cases the sound proof (i don't know if i say it right... sad.gif )...For example: FIAT Punto/Alfa Romeo Mito VW Golf/Audi A3/Skoda Octavia 5/Seat Leon Peugeot 307 - 308 / Citroen C4 Opel Insignia/Buick Regal smile.gif

I always seem to want to post here when I get a new car, and I have!

I just bought 1989 Pontiac Grand Prix SE. It has a 3.1 V6 (140hp, 185torques). It also has almost every option they came with, like power windows, central locking, power seats, power sunroof, driver info center, digital gauge cluster (not installed in these pics but it is now), and a remote keyless entry. I paid $500 plus trade for a laptop I had just bought. It does seem like it could be a good car with a little bit of tinkering. The trans is acting up but I think it could be fixed with a fluid change. And finally it needs a water pump. Other than that, its in tip top shape and everything works. Being an MI car, surprisingly it doesnt have much rust, all easily fixable

ANYWAYS... onto some pics...

It basically does just need a good cleaning, but we havent had a day above freezing here in MI in quite a few weeks so I havent had the chance.

Doesn't need to be a lot, it's not really supposed to be a sportscar or anything.

Its not an Aerial Atom but it has enough torque to spin the wheels off the line... not particularly fast either but its sufficient. I'm sure its capable of its 120mph speedometer max.

And yes the seats are very comfortable, they're 12-way power adjustable smile.gif

@Illousion: Yeah I had an 88 Grand Prix prior to this one and it was an awesome car, but the paintwork was very bad on it (basically needed a whole respray) and the entire front end (ball joints, tierods, control arms) needed to be replaced, so I just said screw it, I'll sell it and buy another one with the money tounge.gif. It was fantastically reliable though, I wouldnt have thought twice about driving it to California.

Probably close but not quite. From experience with the lesser motor (smaller than 3.8) late 80's/early 9-'s GM's, 110-115 seems to be the end for them. On the other hand, I had a friend in a mid 90's 3.8 Buick fly off and leave me (in a sh*t Taurus at the time at around 111) at around 120 in his.

A lot of GM cars of that era have speed governors. I have a 93 Cavalier thats limited to 110. I'm pretty sure they did this because their "fast cars" of the time werent much faster so they governed the lesser cars so they cant come close to going as fast. I honestly think my Cavalier could do 120-125 with the governor disabled.

Precisely. The limiter on my friend's 93 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham with a 350 kicks in at 113. I'm sure without it, it would hit 120 or more on a long enough stretch of road.

I had a 93 Grand Prix. Exactly the same only mine didn't have a worthless info system, and it had a big single bar headlight. It topped out at 107.

Fantastic car and reliable as all get out. The only thing I have to warn you of is the vacuum lines. Sometimes the 80s and 90s factory GM soft lines slip off of their coupler. The main vac line going to my brake master cylinder came off as I was approaching a red light doing about 45mph. I sh*t enough bricks to build a small house as I blew through the busy intersection narrowly missing 2 cars.

The GM 3.1L V6 from the late 80s, early to mid 90s was solid as a rock. I had one in my Beretta GT and in my Camaro RS. 140hp, 180lb-ft. Definitely enough to chirp the tires. It got me up to 112 in my Beretta GT at which point the fuel gets cut off. I could never seem to have enough room to get my Camaro past 110mph... I might have gotten to 115 one time, but can't recall very well. I beat the hell out of both of those cars and the engines never gave me trouble.

From what I've heard, people who disable the governor have been able to get their Corsicas and Berettas to hit some where in the 120s.

@stinomontana... were you expecting more? I don't get it. It's an 89 Grand Prix.

There isn't a whole lot, lol. But I had a little extra cash and it was more fun than the Beretta I had at the time.

Pico, there is simple rule of Vehicle Talk which I think you would have known more than anyone else.

There will always be people disappointed or just plain outraged by your choice of car, its colour, engine size, transmission and trim unless you have something ridiculously expensive like a Shelby Mustang...but then it just catches fire.

Nice tyres, what do you mean by Jap-style plate? You mean a square UK one like on imports or a custom made plate?

I have a square one at the rear and a conventional one at the front (it makes the car look lower and wider) pending a new front bumper which probably won't happen tounge.gif The plates have carbon lettering.

Here's a quick peek at my green and carbon interior (all the pictures seem to be reversed- it's RHD):

*EDIT* I experimented with tinted front indicators last summer- people kept cutting me up as they were hardly visible.

Hey, at least I'm not making jokes about how it can't turn and such.

I just very honestly do not see the point in owning a V6 Camaro.

Nice projector headlights, but yeah, don't screw with the indicators.

By the way, how come you have a modern 03-reg number plate? I thought they started the newer look Colts by then.
