banshy Posted June 10, 2005 Share Posted June 10, 2005 (edited) Hi, I read about every topic regarding freezing problems in this forum, but my issue was never adressed: When I start GTA:SA I see this cd-cursor, the DVD-ROM seems to be accessing the DVD and suddenly the screen turns black and in the middle you can see the EAX HD logo (it's not really visible, but if you look really close you see it) ... thats it Anybody else with this problem? AMD Athlon 1.4Ghz 1024 MB ECC SDRAM GeForce 4 4400 Ti Windows 2000 Server (< is that the problem?) I can load the menu fine, and go around the menu (only using keyboard for some reason, although I do see a mouse), but i try to load the game it freezes. Here's what to do: Second mouse click on "gta_san.exe" and select "Run As" > "The Following User", and select another non administrator account other than your own. Type in the password of this account, press ok and then try the game. If you don't have another account on our computer create one WITH a password and follow the above steps. Alternatively: Log in to Windows using an account without administrative rights i.e a limited account (if you are the only user, create one), locate gta "san_san.exe" and run it. Make sure that your windows log-in account has a password, the change that you have to make doesn't allow a blank password to be entered. 2. Second click "gta_san.exe" > "Run As" > "The following user" 3. Select user, type in password, press OK. 4. Log out (if you dont the game runs really slow for some reason) 5. BTW just a quick question, irrelevant to this topic. How do you disable mouse look while in vehicles? I find it really inconvenient and somewaht annoying. We spend our hard earned cash on these games and then spend countless hours, not playing, but trying to get the game to work. I'm having the same problems with the black screen after tho logos. I got the game to work ONCE using this method. I E-mailed R* with this trick hoping they get a hint on how to fix it. Awaiting a reply from them. lifter Posted June 16, 2005 Share Posted June 16, 2005 Well... I got my response from support. They told me to delete my set file (GTS_SA.set) and the game should start. Problem with that is that the set file can't be created if I don't set preferences, and if the game doesn't start...Well, I can't set preferences! I don't have that file to delete!!!
