DocMenach
I seem to remember one thing that was touted about the PC version is mod support. Considering the fact that the game does not come with ANY modding tools, such as map editor, texture editor, scrpit editor, or anything of the sort I would not exactly call that support. All the mod tools that have ever been made for GTA games have been community made, and SA does not seem like it is going to be any different. Other games (UT2004, Warcraft, etc.) all come with map/mission/texture/other modding tools, and are actually supported and even promoted by the game developer (UT2004 "Make Something Unreal" contest). To me it seems that Rockstar doesn't really support mods, they just tolerate them. Some amazing mods have come out of the community, but imagine what could be done if Rockstar actually helped the people who add new content, and new life, to thier games. Anyone else have comments about this?

noVa
the way rockstar has supported modding is by keeping files open not trying to stop people from access code or editing code, tbh the community is better becuase its harder to mod as we have to create our own tools etc, stop crying becuase its not as easy as you want it to be, and sit back be patient and let the good times (mods) role. Majestic
by "mod support" they meant "we are going to hardcode less things"
Opius
Besides, we're already up to speed with 50% of all moddable files and it's not even a week after the release. It's not like Rockstar deliberately hamper modders, since many of the files are plain text and have internal documentation, it's easy for most people to do simple mods. For the more difficult-to-decipher files like textures and models, certain people know certain other people...
DocMenach
Yes, I realise that Rockstar does not lock thier files, but my point is that it is still not what I would call support, espically since mod support was an advertised feature. Other games companies do the same, but they dont advertise mod support at the same time. The GTA mod community is amazing for what it has done with so little help. They are truly talented people making mods for the GTA series.
