Random freezing

Recommended Posts

Man this is really frustrating. I have only been able to complete 2 missions. The game freezes up constantly. It appears to be worse during day time. The screen will just freeze for about 30 seconds and then keep going, then another freeze... then another. Like this, the game is completely unplayable. Like most of us I have waited so long for this to come out, this sucks. My specs in case someone can help are as follows:

Intel P4 2.8

Asus P4P800 Deluxe

Geforce 4 Ti4600

Audigy2 ZS Platinum

512mb PC3200

Here's what I have done so far in attempt to fix:

1. Update Graphic Drivers

2 Update Audio Drivers

3. Different resolutions

4. Toyed with AA and all other possible graphical features in menu.

5. Ran audio and video tests in dxdiag (No Problems)

6. Scanned for viruses.

Any help would be extremely appreciated!

I have since completely uninstalled and reinstalled San Andreas. No luck, same issue. So I flashed my bios, still no luck. I downloaded Rivatuner and turned off fastwrites and that isn't changing anything either. I also turned my sound acceleration down to standard in dxdiag as suggested in these forums and that didn't make a difference either. I can't think of anything else besides either reformatting windows which is just overkill or start playing musical chairs with my PCI slots. I have Half Life 2, Doom 3, Flight Sim 2004, and Vice City installed and they all run perfectly. WTF??

Any help, anyone?

Kas Valentine

I would point the finger of blame at your GeForce 4 Ti and possibly the 512 RAM. The GeForce 4 Ti 4600 is the card I used to have but it caused me so many problems I replaced it with a nicer card just so I could ensure San Andreas would run smoothly (*touches wood*). 512 RAM might not be a problem, but getting 1gig never hurts (not too expensive either).
